Aren't the IAA the same bunch of losers who can't even get their job
done, and got Israel's traffic safety ranking down to the level of
Zimbabwe's?
I highly doubt getting their site done right is possible as well.

I really thought that our safety record was alright. Note that I am
unfamiliar with Zimbabwe's safety record.

The rep I communicated with really seemed to care. She even took some
of my comments personally, it seemed. However, I do not know how much
power she has to actually _do_ something. Nor do I think that she is
responsible for our safety record! Two heads, same monster.

There was an article about it in the weekend supplement of Yediot
Aharonot about 1 1/2 weeks ago.
More recently, it was found that the landing strip in the Uvda airport
(near Eilat) is crumbling and now Israel has no backup airport for big
airplanes.

Surprising, especially since Uvda is constantly used for charter flights
going to Eilat.

Still, saying that Israel has not backup airport is a bit of an
exaggeration. Most air force bases are suited to handle civic aviation
in case of a real need, and most can take big planes (at least as far as
runways are concerned. I'm not sure about parking places and instrument
landing facilities).

I will do it, for the sake of everybody. I only need small help to save my

And my suggestion, after I do it, some more people to fax them similar
complaints to increase the pressure at different intervals of time. ;-)

It worked for me with my 80 GB and a few smaller ones . Also worked for my
son-in-law for his 500GB.

The device catalog is improperly displayed in Firefox, and therefore unusable:
http://www.orange.co.il/catalog/

I have written to them no less than four times on the subject, each
time at the request of a different Linux user who brought it to my
attention.

The page for sending SMS does not work in Firefox. I think it works in
Opera, I am not sure.

I'm on the second IDE->USB box borrowed from the local PC shop. I'm
still trying it since ddrescue froze at around 99Gb. I suspect maybe
the drive became too hot so I turned it (and its power supply) off to
cool and will try again later.

Thanks,

Nope. I connected the disk to Ubuntu 8.04 i386 and used ddrescue to
read it. Nothing to do with Windows or NTFS.

(the backup USB drive I bought is a 750Gb WD USB drive formatted as
NTFS, which I left at that for now because I plan to backup another
Windows laptop on it as well).

I access (or try to access) the drive's raw data.
Apart from the NTFS partition, the drive was partitioned with one boot
partition and the rest is under LVM2 and ext3.

Thanks for the tips.
