I was wondering the same once, and wrote this little post:
http://www.held.org.il/blog/?p=79

Note the references which I based this on.

In short: it's not easy to measure, but the penalty seems to be quite
insignificant. Still, using a 64 bit kernel (even on 32 bit os!) removes the
need for PAE.

of course it does (DVB-T is OFDM and symbol rate is surly applicable). vlc's
gui insists on it (although it may be found automatically)

I can't achieve a good enough signal so i can not hold lock for more than 2
seconds ...

I have no details, but acorrding to Haaretz, it is not standard DVB-T,
but a modified version of DVB-T that may have compatability problems.

As for quality, there is only a limited number of bits available, and
the IBA decided to split them among 6 low quality channels instead of
1 or 2 HDTV ones.

The idea was to reduce the number of transmitters, moving over to the
ones used for Channel 2, dropping the ones used for Channel 1, and
adding channels 10,33 and 99. The plan is to by 18 months from now be
using less transmitters total than Channel 2 uses today.

BTW, are any of them 16:9?

Geoff.

PAE question

2009-08-02 Thread Hetz Ben Hamo
Hi,

The Fedora 11 default installation installs the kernel with PAE
installation *regardless* of how much RAM I have.

I was wondering: are there any performance "penalties" when using PAE
enabled kernel instead of the i686 version?

Thanks,
Hetz

Hello all,

Here is my 2 cents

It started , Frequence is 514000, channel number 26
Symbol Rate is not appilcable for DVB-T

I have DVBT card and watched translation already, although quality was
bad ( I do not shure about the reason)
