an ST Lab ethernet card (Realtech chipset) for 70 nis

Ethernet:
On box it says that this card supports linux, and to my surprise there are
instruction (on the supplied disk) on how to install the card on linux
(just load the 8139too module)

ADSL:
Well.. this took time as I didn't knew nothing about networking nor adsl
installation
so after few attempts i turn to the bezeqint support, and, I was pleasenlty
tell you
that they instruct me step by step through the installation on my Debian
system
I talk to this guy barak, who also has debian, and after done with him, all
i needed is to recompile
my kernel (once more ofcourse) and WALLA ! adsl is here !

thanx for your comments
now faster that ever

Re: Software design document

2003-02-26 Thread Eli Segal
Just one thought ...
Why would anyone want users to leave windows ..

I say, if someone is happy with his windows .. let him be
linux is alternative and that's the good part

you have elsewhere to go, and that's one of the greatest things in linux
you can choose the way your system looks, act, etc ..

I want a world with chioces and it doesn't bothr me that windows is
one of those choices

ADSL report

2003-03-02 Thread Eli Segal
Well ...
the bad news are that kobi from bezeqint tech support
no longer work there .. no more linux support :((

the good news are that i've installed finally my adsl
connection through new installation

and here are the details for future reference
keywords adsl pppoe debian

ip - 10.0.0.1
netmask - 255.0.0.0
gateway - 10.0.0.2

a route should be added
# route add default ppp0

to get the adsl work through the installation you need to open a console
and do it manually as the current installation doasn't give you this option

I don't have "patches" it just that i want to have some application with
hebrew support
like licq, xchat, Abiword ...

right now you have to compile them to get hebrew support, and i think it
would be
nice to have it out of the box

well to get hebrew on licq, i need to compile with bidi support
xchat need to be copile with hebrew-support
I don't know how well Abiword works out of the box in sid
but now you have to compile it with bidi, and take a long root to install
the fonts for it

i'm using debian sarge
