I have acer 50x as primary slave (/dev/hdb) and it works perfectly with
RH6.1
( except that it can't read some writable CDs :-( , even in windoze ).

Hi,
I think you got it wrong( or did I ).What I meant is 2.2.x kernels
are giving disk change messages where as 2.3.48 is working fine. What might
be the reason?

[LIH] 2.2.12-20 : VFS : disk change detected on ide0( 3, 64 ).

2000-03-18 Thread A.Srinath Reddy

Hi,

I have a strange problem(or is it normal).I have a Redhat 6.1
System with 2.2.12-20 kernel.After I start X, the message
"VFS : Disk Change Detected on ide0( 3, 64 )."
keeps on coming.But ide0 is my harddisk.The messages won't come when I'm
not running the X server.Recently when I booted with a 2.3.x kernel, the
problem disappeared :) Does any body know WHY? What is not there in 2.2.x
kernels that is there in 2.3.x w.r.t IDE disks?

TIA.
Srinath.

That 3 is the runlevel of init.If you are running RedHat
distribution, then the default runlevel is 3( I don't know about other
distributions ), that's why it works even without 3.( See /etc/initab file
for more details ).

This is properly legal. The document of OSS drivers says that we
have to reinstall if we want for more than 20mts.
