success: can boot 2.4.0-test9-pre7
Now I can boot it. I've compiled as Pentium MMX without MTRR support. The PC is a PIII IDE. Kernel test9-pre5 could'nt boot, compiled as PIII and with MTTR support. The kernel run fine here :) (and fast!) :-) Yuri - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-kernel" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please read the FAQ at http://www.tux.org/lkml/

Cannot boot with 2.4.0-test9-pre5 gcc 2.7.3 compiled as PIII the .config is the same of previous mails :) Yuri -- "I bambini nascono per essere felici" Jose' Marti' - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-kernel" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please read the FAQ at http://www.tux.org/lkml/
Cannot boot with 2.4.0-test8&9-pre1 (even with gcc 2.7.3)
linux:~ # gcc -v Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/2.7.2.3/specs gcc version 2.7.2.3 But no luck :( still hangs on "Booting Linux...". I've rpmmed -e gcc 2.95 from a Suse 6.4 and installed the gcc 2.7.3 from suse 6.3 It compiles fine, so I think there's another problem :) The .config is the same of the previous mail. Cannot boot with 2.4.0-pre8 and pre9-test1
Hi all! I cannot boot with 2.4.0-pre8 and pre9-test1. I can with pre7. .config is nothing special, I've the VIA chipset. The problem: when I boot, the kernel says (after uncompressing): "Now booting..." and then it stays there forever :) With pre7 it is fine.
