2.4.0: ieee1394: got invalid ack 3 from node 65473 (tcode 4)

2001-01-09 Thread Wolfgang Spraul

Incompatibility with "Sarotech FHD-352F/U Rev 1.0"

Using an external IDE drive in the Sarotech FireWire enclosure fails, even
though the Sarotech unit works with Win2K and other SBP2 drives work for me
(with Linux).

I'm using 2.4.0 together with sbp2_1394_122300.tar.gz.
ACK code 3 is not even mentioned in ieee1394.h.

I understand that the SBP2 driver is not (yet) included, but it will be shortly.
Also, I guess the same problem applies to raw1394.o together with the Sarotech
enclosure.

Re: 2.4.0-test11: hangs while "Probing PCI hardware" for Sony Vaio C1VE (Crusoe)

2000-12-02 Thread Wolfgang Spraul

Yes, the C1VE has a Crusoe processor (5600 stepping 03).
I didn't find the "Transmeta" thread, though.
test12-pre still has the problem. And to change the PCI access from to
 or doesn't help either.
In the thread you mentioned, did they post any patches?

2.4.0-test11: hangs while "Probing PCI hardware" for Sony Vaio C1VE (Crusoe)

2000-12-02 Thread Wolfgang Spraul

PhoenixBIOS, Sony Vaio C1VE

I did some printk() debugging, but the kernel hangs at various places in
pci_setup_device(), mostly in pci_read_bases().

I will assist in debugging if needed.

Wolfgang

2.4.0-test11: arch/i386/boot/bootsect.S incompatible with Vaio C1VE (Crusoe) floppy

2000-12-02 Thread Wolfgang Spraul

2.4.0-test11, arch/i386/boot/bootsect.S has a probe_loop: to determine the
number of sectors that can be read at once (i.e. in one track).

This routine does not work with the Sony UDF5 USB floppy disk, mapped as an
Int13 device by the Vaio C1VE (Crusoe) BIOS.
Therefore, a bzdisk floppy will not be bootable.

I solved the problem for me by changing "disksizes: .byte 36, 18, 15, 9" to
"disksizes: .byte 18, 18, 18, 18", but I think someone should do it right.
I will assist debugging if needed.

Wolfgang
