related. I can't tell what it was which blocked a proper boot, but
after reverting some of the patches of the 3.5.3-rc1 upgrade without
success, I updated the whole machine and did a BIOS reset, and the
problem was immediately gone.

So just ignore my previous mail. 3.5.3-rc1 boots fine now.

I would like to see commit 2064db725cc6d4ea19a24c138bc37939b63e3ae6
(drm/nv86/fifo: suspend fix) cherry-picked to the 3.5 kernel series, it
makes suspend work again on my machine. Could you please queue this up
for 3.5.4?

Apologies for thread hijacking, my attempts to directly send the request

3.5.3-rc1 hangs my machine on boot (can reboot with CTRL-ALT-DEL).
All other kernels are/has been fine, incl. latest 3.5.2 and 3.6-rc1.

There's nothing in the logs, but you can see a screenshot here:

Here it stops, and I have to reboot.

Right, Holger, the way this works is I queue these things up for Linus
but don't necessarily submit them right away. Bug me (not Greg) if I
haven't done that in a couple days.

Is the patch you reference above in Linus's tree? That is a requirement

Greg,

it looks like a fix for a regression in NFS is not mentioned in this
patch even though it was supposedly sent to -stable:
http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/1208.2/00594.html

I tried to locate the patch in git but could not find it anywhere. As far
as I can tell the fix works; in my case I noticed repeatable hangs when
trying to "move files to the trash" in XFCE and these hangs are now gone.
Have not noticed any negative side effects either.

thanks
