linux-next: Tree for Oct 2

2020-10-02 Thread Stephen Rothwell
Hi all,

News: there will be no linux-next release on Monday.

Changes since 20201001:

The vfs tree still had its build failure.

The hwmon-staging tree lost its build failure.

The net-next tree still had its build failure and gained a conflict
against the net tree.

The drm tree gained a conflict against Linus' tree.

The tip tree gained a conflict against the iommu tree.

Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 11779
 11588 files changed, 659629 insertions(+), 246651 deletions(-)

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" and checkout or reset to the new
master.

You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log
files in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built
with a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc, an allmodconfig for x86_64, a
multi_v7_defconfig for arm and a native build of tools/perf. After
the final fixups (if any), I do an x86_64 modules_install followed by
builds for x86_64 allnoconfig, powerpc allnoconfig (32 and 64 bit),
ppc44x_defconfig, allyesconfig and pseries_le_defconfig and i386, sparc
and sparc64 defconfig and htmldocs. And finally, a simple boot test
of the powerpc pseries_le_defconfig kernel in qemu (with and without
kvm enabled).

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

I am currently merging 328 trees (counting Linus' and 86 trees of bug
fix patches pending for the current merge release).

Stats about the size of the tree over time can be seen at
http://neuling.org/linux-next-size.html .

Status of my local build tests will be at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/linux-next . If maintainers want to give
advice about cross compilers/configs that work, we are always open to add
more builds.

Thanks to Randy Dunlap for doing many randconfig builds. And to Paul
Gortmaker for triage and bug fixes.

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" and checkout or reset to the new
master.

You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log
files in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built
with a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc, an allmodconfig for x86_64, a
multi_v7_defconfig for arm and a native build of tools/perf. After
the final fixups (if any), I do an x86_64 modules_install followed by
builds for x86_64 allnoconfig, powerpc allnoconfig (32 and 64 bit),
ppc44x_defconfig, allyesconfig and pseries_le_defconfig and i386, sparc
and sparc64 defconfig. And finally, a simple boot test of the powerpc
pseries_le_defconfig kernel in qemu (with and without kvm enabled).

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

I am currently merging 290 trees (counting Linus' and 66 trees of bug
fix patches pending for the current merge release).

Stats about the size of the tree over time can be seen at
http://neuling.org/linux-next-size.html .

Status of my local build tests will be at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/linux-next . If maintainers want to give
advice about cross compilers/configs that work, we are always open to add
more builds.

Thanks to Randy Dunlap for doing many randconfig builds. And to Paul
Gortmaker for triage and bug fixes.

linux-next: Tree for Oct 2

2015-10-01 Thread Stephen Rothwell
Hi all,

There will be no linux-next release on Monday.

Changes since 20151001:

I used the h8300 tree from next-20150828 since the current tree has been
rebased onto linux-next again :-(

The battery tree still had its build failure so I used the version from
next-20150925.

The target-updates tree gained a conflict against the kdbus tree.

The pinctrl tree still had its build failure so I used the version from
next-20150924.

The akpm-current tree gained a conflict against the tip tree.

Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 4318

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you

You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log
files in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built
with a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc and an allmodconfig for x86_64,
a multi_v7_defconfig for arm and a native build of tools/perf. After
the final fixups (if any), it is also built with powerpc allnoconfig
(32 and 64 bit), ppc44x_defconfig, allyesconfig (this fails its final
link) and pseries_le_defconfig and i386, sparc, sparc64 and arm defconfig.

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

I am currently merging 226 trees (counting Linus' and 33 trees of patches
pending for Linus' tree).

Stats about the size of the tree over time can be seen at
http://neuling.org/linux-next-size.html .

Status of my local build tests will be at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/linux-next . If maintainers want to give
advice about cross compilers/configs that work, we are always open to add
more builds.

Thanks to Randy Dunlap for doing many randconfig builds. And to Paul
Gortmaker for triage and bug fixes.

2015-10-01 Thread Stephen Rothwell
Hi all,

There will be no linux-next release on Monday.

Changes since 20151001:

I used the h8300 tree from next-20150828 since the current tree has been
rebased onto linux-next again :-(

The battery tree still had its build failure so I used the version from
next-20150925.

The target-updates tree gained a conflict against the kdbus tree.

The pinctrl tree still had its build failure so I used the version from
next-20150924.

The akpm-current tree gained a conflict against the tip tree.

Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 4318
 3547 files changed, 168949 insertions(+), 76355 deletions(-)

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" and checkout or reset to the new
master.

You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log
files in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built
with a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc and an allmodconfig for x86_64,
a multi_v7_defconfig for arm and a native build of tools/perf. After
the final fixups (if any), it is also built with powerpc allnoconfig

And to Paul
Gortmaker for triage and bug fixes.

linux-next: Tree for Oct 2

2013-10-02 Thread Thierry Reding
Hi all,

I've uploaded today's linux-next tree to the master branch of the
repository below:

git://gitorious.org/thierryreding/linux-next.git

A next-20131002 tag is also provided for convenience.

No new conflicts today. i386, x86_64 and ARM default configurations did
build fine. Well, the same issue on i.MX is still there, so I added the
patch on top of today's linux-next tree so others won't have to deal
with it. I'm assuming it will make it into the i.MX tree eventually.

One small change, I have removed Joern's bcon tree as per his request.
Furthermore there's now an rr-cache branch in the tree linked to above
which contains an orphaned branch with the resolutions recorded in the
.git/rr-cache directory. There's also a new script Next/rr-cache which
can be used to setup the .git/rr-cache directory from an rr-cache branch
and manage it using git. In a nutshell: it's a wrapper around git with
extra handling for the "init" command.

As I already mentioned, Mark has volunteered to do the linux-next tree
for tomorrow and the day after that. I should be able to resume doing
them on Monday.

Happens on powerpc too with ppc64e_defconfig compiling modules.

Reverting this fixes it:
  862096a IB/ipoib: Add more rtnl_link_ops callbacks

Adding patch owners and committer to CC.

This definitely depends upon INET, I'll add the Kconfig change

on x86_64:

drivers/net/vxlan.c: In function 'vxlan_xmit':
drivers/net/vxlan.c:725:2: error: implicit declaration of function
'ip_select_ident'

That function is only defined when CONFIG_INET is enabled,
but it is disabled in this config.

Full randconfig file is attached.

 Hi all,

Do not add stuff destined for v3.8 to your linux-next included branches
 until after v3.7-rc1 is released.

on x86_64:

drivers/net/vxlan.c: In function 'vxlan_xmit':
drivers/net/vxlan.c:725:2: error: implicit declaration of function
'ip_select_ident'

That function is only defined when CONFIG_INET is enabled,
but it is disabled in this config.

 drivers/net/vxlan.c: In function 'vxlan_xmit':
drivers/net/vxlan.c:725:2: error: implicit declaration of function
 'ip_select_ident'

That function is only defined when CONFIG_INET is enabled,
but it is disabled in this config.

This definitely depends upon INET, I'll add the Kconfig change
to net-next, thanks.

 drivers/built-in.o: In function `ipoib_changelink':
 ipoib_netlink.c:(.text+0x6a5fc9): undefined reference to `ipoib_set_mode'
 ipoib_netlink.c:(.text+0x6a5fe3): undefined reference to `ipoib_set_mode'

Happens on powerpc too with ppc64e_defconfig compiling modules.

Reverting this fixes it:
  862096a IB/ipoib: Add more rtnl_link_ops callbacks

Adding patch owners and committer to CC.
