Are the interfaces add-single-device and remove-single-device deprecated in
2.4?

Thx,

I don't think so. As time passes they are becoming more and
more useful. Also their implementation has been strengthened.
Now various hotpluggable pseudo adapter drivers (e.g.
ieee1394/sbp2) want to be able to call them within the
scsi subsystem.

When they were first added, I think the author wanted to
dissuade people from trying hotplugging on simple SCSI
parallel buses.

Question: is anybody here working on support for ieee1394 disks? I've just
bought a Western Digital 45 GB external hard disk and I'm willing to work
together with anybody interested in having this supported on Linux, so if
possible, please contact me.

Thanks,

Arnaldo,
See http://Linux1394.sourceforge.net/ . According
to that page there is a sbp-2 driver in CVS.
[Sbp-2 is a SCSI protocol designed for transport
over ieee1394.]

The FAQ entry states:

Thank you! I'll take a look and try to populate my brand new disk with nice
.mp3s :P Or work trying to get to that point :)
