Thank you. That's what I tried before, but I didn't get that you can't
use the sudo command to enable it, after sudo -s/root terminal it worked.

As the debug output is once again far too long to be put in here (or on
pastebin), I uploaded it at Launchpad and Zippyshare. (*.tar.gz)

I entered the following commands after un- and replugging the camera:
grep xhci /var/log/kern.log
grep usb /var/log/kern.log

I hope those were correct. Here are the Download-Links:

No, if you are using the current upstream, xhci_hcd can do dynamic
debugging. No need to recompile.

Can you please provide me with instructions (console commands) on how to
enable and capture xhci_hcd dynamic debugging verbatim with the current
upstream (3.15.0-031500rc8)? I don't know what information/logs you
require ... or how to get them.

Addendum

I'm really sorry about the way I posted this. This is how my
Upstream-Bugreport to your Mailing-List should have looked like to begin
with. Well, better late than never ...

Summary:
Logitech c920 usb webcam not working when plugged into USB 3.0 port

Description:
My logitech c920 usb webcam doesn't work when connected to my usb 3.0
host controller (Etron EJ168a). When i connect my usb 3.0 stick to the
same port it's recognized and also works - just not the webcam.
disabling usb 3.0 legacy mode (xhci) in my bios doesn't change anything,
it's still used instead of ehci.

Workaround:
When connected to a usb 2.0 port it works perfectly.

Please switch on xhci dynamic debugging.

But whatever you do, never ever mutilate a bug report like this.
Never ever grep around and drop parts of the report. And don't
put things on an external server one cannot access with all tools.

I think I reconfigured thunderbird correctly now - so the format/quotes
should be right from now on.

Sorry about the mutilation and the badly formatted answer. I'm used to
bulletin boards with codeboxes. Should I really have posted 1835 lines
of lsusb -v in my email response? I thought that would be to too long.
(1000 lines-->1835 lines; 100.000 Char-Limit-->88.098) That's why I
posted it on pastebin/an external server ... should I have used
something else?

Switching on xhci dynamic debugging would mean compiling a new kernel,
right? It can't somehow be switched on afterwards with a ubuntu
upstream/mainline kernel?

Inhibiting xhci for this specific port would be a solution in the
interim ... how could I do that?

For some chipsets the newest kernels allow you to inhibit
the switch to xhci for specific ports. But this is not a
generally applicable solution, although it works for
internal cameras.

What exactly is the problem? Do you see exactly those messages
as mentioned in the tracking tools?

And it would be most helpful if you at least posted "lsusb -v"
for your camera.

Oliver
