Mark your calendars for the next Christchurch NZPUG meetup: Dec 5th!
Hi all, December's Christchurch NZPUG meetup will be a deployment workshop. We will be particularly looking at Buildout, a python-based deployment technology - think of it as <> on steroids but it's platform independent (windows, *nix, osx, bsd, solaris, et al). It is also the deployment technology behind OnlineGroups.net :) Details are as follows: Date: Friday, 05 December 2008 Time: 5:30-7:30pm URL: http://nzpug.org/MeetingsChristchurch/Dec2008 Talks: * Tim Knapp: Deploying Plone/Zope with Buildout * Marek Kuziel: Deploying Django with Buildout As per previous meetups, please send an email to to let me know, so we can make plans for after preso nibbles/etc. Look forward to seeing you all there! Kind regards, Tim

Re: virtualbox
Try an uninstall via "sudo vmware-uninstall.pl" first, then reinstall. Worked fine for me on HH, both 32 and 64 bit. I hate it when kernel and compiler version get out of step like this, but you can't blame vmware for that! However, using gcc 4.2.4 generates modules that work fine, so just override the defaults at that point. from looking at Adapt i believe i have the header kernels for 2.6.24-21 also yes, you need the kernel headers to recompile the vmware modules. downloaded any-any patch for server 2.0 re ran scripts again bombed out same message. You don't need that, just the latest ( 122956 ) version of vmware server. found a script that did things for you so ran that it removed 2.0 and installed 1.6XXX again up popped same msg about no vmons. I had downloaded the any-any patch as well!! hth, Steve

You now download a self extracting script .bundle file which should build the appropriate kernel modules for you. I found this link which should get you started on ubuntu based systems. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VMware/Player Cheers Col.
