Re: Modprobe: can't find module

2002-05-17 Thread Bonez

Sorry Kurt, but no Red Hat here. I am running Caldera 3.1 (kernel 2.4.2).

Look at the output of dmesg (dmesg | less). That will give you more clues
about what's going wrong. There should also be useful information in
 /var/log/messages.

Thanks. I took a look at messages. Have to get another pair of glasses and
some eye drops now, for the tearing and eyestrain. I am learning this is a
game of investigation, lots of reading, fumbling at the keyboard and
reinstallation if things really get screwed up.

Here's my latest new question. I can't seem to get my .profile setup right
to allow QT 3.0.3 to install. Despite telling it that the QTDIR variable
resides in /var/local/qt, echo $QTDIR responds with /var/lib/qt2.

I am off to read a bunch more.

Re: Modprobe: can't find module

2002-05-16 Thread Kurt Wall

Scribbling feverishly on May 16, Bonez managed to emit:
When I boot up, linux loads fine (kernel 2.4.2, but soon to be 2.4.18), but
I still see a message stating Modprobe: can't find module.

I believe this has something to do with the video module or video card
selection. Where would I look to resolve this?

Also, when booting I get a message that says Advanced Configuration and
 Power Management: FAIL.

Ah. This would be a Red Hat system, yes?

How do I address that issue as well?
