powertrips.org. IN NS dns1.powertrips.org. www IN A powertrips.org. www IN CNAME powertrips.org. admin IN A powertrips.org. mailIN A 66.28.158.4 @ IN MX 10 66.28.158.4 First off, why CNAME and A record for the same name? Secondly, A records should resolve to NUMERIC addresses. CNAMES resolve to other ALPHA records. mail is a perfect example of and A record. www is a good CNAME. Beyond that, what do your logs say when you start BIND? You should find some very informative messages, and I think they're still in /var/log/messages (even is BSD?) The problem is I try to setup a DNS server in it (Our server is running on FreeBSD 4.4-RELEASE) but is seems it cannot answer any query on www.powertrips.org, admin.powertrips.org and other subdomain I configure. Why ? But for DNS1.powertrips.org it works fine. Can you look into this ? Well I cant deny that Im a newbie in DNS thinggie. Hi, take a look at: www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/dns.html again. there is a warning, the forwarders entry in named.conf 127.0.0.1 will not work. you should change this IP to a name server at your uplink.
