compatibility
I recently purchased an Dell Dimension 8200 Pentium 4 with 2.0GHz. The machine has windows XP. I want to partition it and run Linux and WindowsXP. Has anyone been successful in dual booting Linux with WinXP on the same drive that was partitioned by fdisk? I have COL 2.4.Thanks
Re: compatibility
I was warned by a Computer repair shop not to have another drive as slave or master as Win XP would take over the other drive and install Win XP on it.i have another drive I could use but I didn't after that guy told me that, - Original Message - From: Richard R. Have less problems, and you probably use the drive for warrenty purposes later. cheers -- Rick Sivernell Dallas, Texas 75287 972 306-2296 [EMAIL PROTECTED] Caldera Open Linux eWorkStation 3.1.1 Registered Linux User .~. / v \ /( _ )\ ^ ^ In Linux we trust! ___ Linux-users mailing list - http://linux-sxs.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-users Subscribe/Unsubscribe info, Archives, and Digests are located at the above URL. ___ Linux-users mailing list - http://linux-sxs.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-users Subscribe/Unsubscribe info, Archives, and Digests are located at the above URL.

All you have to do is click on the do nothing button. What I have seen XP do without warning is tag another OS partition as extended. I was multi booting Wintendo XP, COL 3.1, and Mandrake 8.1 until I finally got fed up with M$ crap and replaced XP with a real OS, linux:) -- Ted Ozolins (VE7TVO) Westbank, B. Re: compatibility
My initial thought is that's probably nonsense. XP may well format the second drive for you as NTFS, but it shouldn't use it for the install. OTOH, I've never installed XP in a 2-drive setup, so I can't say for sure. On Fri, 2002-06-14 at 10:58, Herbert H.
