[pfSense] Unable to check for updates?

2016-07-29 Thread Kemecsei Gábor

"Unable to check for updates"

It's ok?

I use:
"2.3.1-RELEASE-p5 (i386)
built on Thu Jun 16 12:53:31 CDT 2016
FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-p3 "

The Package Manager reply:
"Unable to retrieve package information."

I have a bug or pfSense?

Nothing, as nothing works. Use Manual Upgrade d/loading from one the
mirror sites: http://www.pfsense.org/mirror.php?section=updates

I used Fleximus website but only RELEASE was accepted by my pfsense:
pfSense-Full-Update-2.0.1-RELEASE-i386.tgz

(I have been upgrading from 2.0.0.)

Re: [pfSense] Unable to check for updates.

2011-12-24 Thread Mike Spooner

I have that too but if I type that url into a browser I get a 404 - Not
Found page. I downloaded the 2.0.1 image and did a manual upgrade.

But on a similar note, on my gui Dashboard under Version in the System
Information widget, I see "Unable to check for updates". This is with
Nano i386 2.0.1 and I saw the same thing with 2.0. Do I need to tell it
where to look for updates or do I need to create a rule to allow it to
look for updates or do I just ignore that message?

Hi,

It works now showing the message as it should -> "You are on the latest
version."

A 404 is correct for that page. It is apparently what that server shows
when there is no index page and no directory listing.
A packet capture shows that pfSense looks for a file named "version" in the
specified location:

GET /_updaters/version HTTP/1.1

HTTP/1.1 200 OK

2.0.1-RELEASE

Is this a DNS issue? Sounds like a problem I had until enabled DNS Forwarder
on localhost:

Re: [pfSense] Unable to check for updates?

I tried them but no success:
General setting > Disable DNS Forwarder (enabled/disabled)
 Services > DNS forwarder (enabled/disabled)
Services > DNS Resolver > General Settings (enabled/disabled)

There was all versions! (enabled/disabled)

According to "nslookup":
The "DNS resolving " works on localhost.

Other ideas?

Thanks!

And my system is no NanoBSD
