i've got #50 chain for 'drag racing'... it might be over kill but i was
protyping a new chain setup and its a hard tail with zero shock absorbtion
[i.e. no rubber bushing on the wheel sprocket, etc...]  the motor sprockets i
got from thunderstruck-ev.com, i've not had an issue with them in the past?

Hello Damon,
I had the same issues with sprocket set screws loosening up. I dimpled
(recessed with a drill) the motor shaft, used both set screws, and locktite.
That solved my problem.

I believe that some of the excess noise on my bike is related to the metric
chain not lining up on the small american sprocket quite right. I guess what I
am aluding to is a believe that a #40 sprocket does not mate well with a 5xx or
4xx chain. What are you using Harry?

BTW I had my off the shelf #40(?) sprocket machined at a machine shop (it is
hardend steel) to taper in the teeth like the rear. Cost me all of 5 bucks. It
is still very noisy and alignment is critical.

My only sprocket loosening issues were when set screws loosened.  It's been a
few years since I've had that happen.

i finally got my bike registered, if you make your home built talk with the
person in charge at the DMV, don't waste your time with the clerks, i was told
five different things before i was done!

now that i'm legal i've got another issue, a strange noise, i hope its my top
motor sprocket.  somehow the bore has gotten bigger and now its very lose on
the motor shaft.  the bottom motor sprocket is still snug.  has anyone else had
an issue with the motor sprocket becoming lose?

some ideas i have: 1, the top motor could be doing most the the initial work
since the wheel sprocket goes to it first?  2, some how the chain is out of
alignment? [though i'm not sure about that since both motors are on the same
1/4 alum plate?
