Tommy,

You do not have to apply any patches or update to SP1, as it is just an XML
file which needs editing.

Very simple.

Hi Robert,

I appreciate your reply. We wouldn't be able to update this simply because we
haven't got SP1 (and other Sharepoint patches) installed. That was why I sent
the email is because it's not possible for us to install the patch until SP1 is
installed and our environment may break if we attempt it.

So for the time being we will leave it as is (ie. without DST fix) and we only
want to know what the impact is going to be for our business. If it's only the
timestamp that is out by 1 hour, I think we can live with that but if there are
other major errors/issues then we will obviously have to attempt to install SP1
dan DST fix.

Thanks,
Tommy

You can use the following below to update the SharePoint application.

Please keep in mind, that if it is not updated, all items which require a date
time stamp reference will be out by 1 hour.

Updating daylight savings time zone information for Sharepoint

If necessary, time zone information for Sharepoint can be manually updated, as
per the following KB:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888253

This involves editing the timezone.xml file, located at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\CONFIG

Example
In the following example, the end time for daylight savings is set to the first
week in April, and the start time for daylight savings is set to the first week
in October.
Note that thesection refers to the week in the month. If this
is set to 5, that means the last week.

Is it just simply the document time that is incorrect or will that cause issues

I'd say it has something to do with the Exchange server.

Subject: [OzMOSS] Workflow e-mail date formats
Hi OzMOSS

I have a problem with the MOSS 2007 out of the box workflow emails, the server
and the MOSS 2007 regional settings are in AUS format (DD/MM/), however
within the workflow e-mails generated, the dates are in US format (MM/DD/).

This issue is obvious when the day is over 12. Otherwise it is very difficult
to realize that there is a problem, which is causing a lot of confusion for the
end users.

Has anyone seen this issue before (and have a fix / workaround), or have I done
something wrong?

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Andrew

[OzMOSS] E-Mail Enable Document Libraries

2008-09-03 Thread Robert Ilencik
Hi Guys,

Need some help in trouble shooting this issue I have with E-Mail Enable
Document Libraries.

1. I've setup our SharePoint server to be an SMTP server.

2. I've created an Exchange connector on our Exchange 2007 server point
to our Sharepoint server.

3. I've configured Incoming Email in Central Admin\Operations with the
following settings as shown below
(p.s. the Email server name that is blocked out in RED, is the same as the
server name that Sharepoint install is on)
[cid:image004.jpg@01C90EA5.B0562C80]

4. I've configured a document library to accept Incoming mail, as shown
below
[cid:image005.jpg@01C90EA5.B0562C80]

5. When sending an email with an attachment (which the attachment will be
stripped & added to the library), I can see the email hit the
"c:\inetpub\mailroot\drop" folder (which is what should happen).

6. When the email disappears from that location, the attachment 'SHOULD'
appear in the configured document library. But it does appear anywhere, neither
within Sharepoint or the server which sharepoint is installed on.

Anyone have any ideas as to how to get this working.???

RE: [OzMOSS] How to change the URL of a sharepoint site

2008-08-26 Thread Robert Ilencik
Hi Jeffery,

Sorry, but we already tried this with no success. It still requires the
/sites/intranet extension.

We are currently in the process of doing what Daniel Brown has suggested

Hi Ann,

Is there currently a site in the top level site collection of w-0665 or
cdm.intranet.com.au? or a reason behind not using the top level site collection?

If not, you can move the site out of the /sites collection and to the top level
site, this will cause /sites/intranet to no longer exist at that location, but
it will exist at the top level site collection of w-0665 and
cbm.intranet.com.au (if exposed/extra-netted to this address).

Happy to help. :)

If this does not work, we'll then look at Jeremy Thake's suggestion:
=

You should be able to run a stsadm -o export at the /sites/intranet/ site level
and then in the new server run a stsadm -o import, but import it at the site
collection root level. I've never tried restore a Site to become the Root Site,
but it should work.

Thanks,

Hi,

Backup
cdm.intranet.com.au/sites/intranet<http://cdm.intranet.com.au/sites/intranet>
and restore it to the root of s-syd-999 should fix your problem.

Hi,

We have installed MOSS 2007 and created a site collection for a web app with
the following URL:

w-0665/sites/intranet

We then changed the DNS of w-0665 to
cdm.intranet.com.au<http://cdm.intranet.com.au>.

To access the site, the users need to type
cdm.intranet.com.au/sites/intranet<http://cdm.intranet.com.au/sites/intranet>.
But the users are finding it confusing that they have to type the
/sites/intranet.

Is there any way for us to rename the original URL when we created the site
collection and get rid of the sites/intranet?

I created another web application on another server and I gave it a URL of
s-syd-999. I then restored the content database of the other site and attached
it to this new web app that I created. I noticed now that to access the
application I need to type s-syd-999/sites/intranet.

Any ideas/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

[OzMOSS] RE: Configure Incoming Email in MOSS2007

2008-08-07 Thread Robert Ilencik
Hi Matt,

I haven't sorted out the issue as described in my earlier mail below, but
instead used the work-around option by by-passing AD all together.

See point 5 - Leave SharePoint Directory Management Service to create
distribution groups and contacts set to No.

Configure incoming e-mail settings on Central Administration
In order to utilize the incoming e-mail settings on any of your lists or
document libraries, the incoming e-mail settings must be configured on the
Central Administration site.
1. In the Central Administration web interface, click Operations in the
left nav.
2. Click Incoming e-mail settings.
3. Select Yes for Enable sites on this server to receive e-mail?
4. Change the Settings mode to Advanced.
5. Leave SharePoint Directory Management Service to create distribution
groups and contacts set to No. For this implementation, we are not using Active
Directory for our membership provider, so the using this service to create
anything in AD is not necessary.
6. Change the E-mail server display address to match the domain that you
have configured your DNS MX record, such as sug.susqtech.com. This will
actually look like [EMAIL PROTECTED]<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
7. Update the E-mail drop folder to the directory created earlier:
C:\Inetpub\MossMailRoot\drop.
+++

Where as to use AD, you must choose YES, and configure an OU in AD plus setup
the exchange connector, etc.

Thanks for your assistance.

Hi Robert,

I probably don't have the answer for you here, but the incoming email settings
let you choose 'advanced' instead of 'automatic', have you tried using
advanced, and pointing it to the drop folder? If you have done this option,
are the permissions on the drop folder configured correctly?

Also, have you checked the log files? (in the templates dir) and within the
windows event log?

It does sound like some type of permissions issue - let me know how you go, I'd
be interested to see what the outcome is.
(The account you chose to delegate control to, have you made sure that is the
correct account with appropriate perms?)

Subject: Configure Incoming Email in MOSS2007

Hi Guys,

I'm having an issue when I configure Incoming Email in MOSS2007. I've followed
the document in the link below to detail.

http://www.combined-knowledge.com/Downloads/How%20to%20configure%20Email%20Enabled%20Lists%20in%20Moss2007%20RTM%20using%20Exchange%202003.pdf

But I still get the following error after I create a library of any sort:

"Error in the application."

One thing I have noticed is that NO email account is created in the OU the I
setup in AD. Could this be the issue...??? Permissioning on that OU...??

Can anyone please advise...???

Cheers
