I am getting on these now, thanks for understanding!

I think SVN access for the incubation space depends upon this ticket.

Yes, Infra needs to move the SVN tree to the incubator space.
I will try, maybe i can do that myself. Then i can give you finally
access

I've been able to access the committers space described at
http://www.apache.org/dev/committers.html#committers-module using my
new login/password.

I did not have luck accessing JIRA either. I'm unsure if we should
create an account and have it blessed in some fashion, or if I'm just
doing something wrong... Please let me know if you figure this out.

Please create Jira accounts and I will give you access to the project.
Just let me know about your Jira names

There are no "leaders" at Apache. There are just people who "do the

And you are very welcome here, even when you just start with open

Agreed. Have a preference for the branch name for the development
line? No logging convention jumps out at my from looking at, e.g.,
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/logging/log4j/log4j2/branches/.

I would go with log4j and use version specific names, like 0.11.2,
0.12.0, 1.0.0 etc.

Once https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-7092 closes,
should

we start with getting that 0.11.0 release branch made from src on
carnold's last commit?

Yes.

If so, anyone want to take lead there when the
time comes?

I would give it a try, but I would focus on formalism alone and
wouldn't test anything myself. I currently simply don't have the
environment to do so and in my opinion any real development should
go

into 0.12.0. Your linked examples of the release process contain
statements about tests, so would it be ok to just ignore those
things?

From my point of view releasing the current status of the code with
all the patches applied would be a reasonable goal.

SVN Access granted

2014-01-02 Thread Christian Grobmeier

Hello folks,

you should now have access to:
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/log4cxx/

Maybe make a little test commit with adding your name to the list of
committers in

https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/log4cxx/trunk/pom.xml

Let me know if you have any problems.

Thanks Thorsten.

I was able to identify all committers with Jira and added all of you at once.
If one of you doesn't have access, please let me know and we'll fix it.

Success. I added a section to the XML and added an entry
following the examples from
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/maven/pom/trunk/maven/pom.xml.

You'll probably want to add yourself Christian. I also see commits from authors
afester
carnold
cdevienne
mcatan
via svn log (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2494984). Any
complaints if I add these folks names as well as "Emeritus" as that
Maven pom.xml does?

Actually I have not done much with log4cxx due to lack of Cxx skills.
I might help with a few commits on website, build etc, but leave the
main work

to you Cxx gurus :)

No, its fine. Except of Curt (carnold) I even never heard of the other
guys,
so it's really history. If they come back, they can change the state
themselves

as they still have write access.

Thanks!

History is still keeping an eye on the list :-)

I will most probably not contribute anymore to log4cxx though.

Thanks to new team for re-activating the project.

Question re: pom.xml comment block in r1414037

2014-01-02 Thread Rhys Ulerich
Hi Christian,

I'm taking a stab at getting an Ant- and/or Maven-based development
build going following either
https://logging.apache.org/log4cxx/building/maven.html or
https://logging.apache.org/log4cxx/building/ant.html. I'm rusty with
Ant, a noob at Maven, and I'm hitting some trouble.

I noticed there's a large block of dependencies in pom.xml that you
commented out in r1414037 (svn diff -c 1414037) but that the pom.xml
changes don't jive with the commit message (svn log -r 1414037) or the
patch attached to LOGCXX-404. Do you recall why you commented out
that large plugin section within the pom.xml?

Generally,

Anyone have hints for building from a dev checkout with Ant/Maven that
works against trunk?  Normally I'm a ./configure && etc fellow but I'd
like to try getting the Maven/Ant stuff working as I suspect it's the
best way to support cross-platform builds.

Thanks,
Rhys
