[luau] Need a volunteer to haul 30 17" monitors to Mid Pacific Institute for LTSP lab project

2002-07-31 Thread Jeff Zidek
I need a volunteer to haul 30 17" monitors to Mid Pacific Institute for
LTSP lab project. The monitors are at Hickam AFB, and need to be gone
by Monday of next week at the latest. I have a truck but they said
someone else from the project needed to pick them up and sign for
them. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Jeff Zidek

On the wiki page, Cody Taylor can round up Air Force personel to do manual

RE MONITORS!

Price Busters Stadium Store next to Checker Auto in the plaza where
Kmart is located.

Check with the manager on Duty and explain they are for Scott, The Linux
Project. They will show you where you can put them. It may have to be
outside the store room as it is really full.

Please Tell them Julie Plant, the General Manager for the Location,
knows about the delivery.

Al,

Thanks for taking care of that for us. You and Julie are huge (figuratively,
not literally) :-) I will be back next week to help store these neatly or
deploy them if needed. Sorry for the latency, I lost my cable modem link for
a few days here. Also, my thanks to whoever took the time to help transport
these monitors, and of course to you, Jeff, for the stuff.

Update:
Brian Low is picking up the 17" monitors from the military today at 1:00pm,
then dropping them off at Midpac around 2:30pm. He is then taking the 15"
monitors at Midpac to Pricebusters for storage. Thanks Brian!

We still need to discuss the broken monitor situation with Royal Data, so we
will deal with those early next week.

Re: [luau] Need a volunteer to haul 30 17" monitors to Mid Pacific Institute for LTSP lab project

2002-08-03 Thread Brian Low
Aloha all,
Just an update to this. I was able to pick up the 17" monitors (thanks to
Jeff and his staff :)) However, we ran into some time delay and I was not able
to take off from the Air Force Base until 4:00PM. This pushed my timeframe to
pick up the 15" monitors from MidPac. This is just as well. I talked to Mark
Hines with the Mid Pacific Lab we usualy meet in. He gave me an update to the
hardware we have on the campus and locations. There are 50 or so monitors that
need to be brought to price busters. This needs to be done by this Friday or
Monday. PriceBusters is saying that the room they have given us is almost
maxed. She also indicated that the room has equpment scatered all over the
place. I know from expenerence, that if we can cleanup the PriceBusters room,
we can fit twice as much equpemnt in the room. I will be heading down to
PriceBusters this week to get that room in shape. I will also be doing an
inventory. I am asking the group if I could get other peope to come into
PriceBusters and assist in helping me in inventory and cleanup. Can you please
reply to this e-mail to indicate if you will be able to help out or not. I
will be calling PriceBusters later today and find out their times of operation
and what type of time they would be willing to give us. Once the room is
clean, we will need to pull the 50 or so monitors that need to be brought to
PriceBusters. Again I am asking if you all will be willing to help on this.
Can you also reply back to this e-mail.

Thanks,
Brian

Brian--
Sorry I haven't called Julie, but it sounds like you have a handle on
things. I can help, but I am crippled, as I have a stiff neck and a
deeply bruised thigh, and I'll be walking around as if I have a neck
brace on. I will come down and do what I can, though. What time were
you thinking about?

Brian
I can help sometime during the week in the afternoon or
weekend. I just have trouble
getting transportation sometimes. My wife and I are down to one car and
I ususally walk to
work and back home again Monday-Friday. Just let me know when you need
the help and

I will try to work around it.

Re: [luau] Need a volunteer to haul 30 17" monitors to Mid Pacific Institute for LTSP lab project

2002-08-04 Thread R. Scott Belford
Brian, (or anyone)

I am the contact for this project at Pricebusters. To make this as easy on
the management staff as possible, please do not call them to make
arrangements to go by there. You might confuse someone. Please talk to me
about your plans and I will meet you or get Dean or possibly Al to accomodate
you. This is only to keep it simple on our gracious hosts.

The people at Pricebusters are payed to handle retail work tasks only. We
all need to know not to ask any employee to help with anything. The
contribution that Beth Tom has made to us via Pricebusters is space only. If
she says that we can ask staff to help with hauling stuff, then so be it.
Until she tells me that, let's all assume that she wants her people doing
retail only. If someone offers to help, then, that's their decision.

The room is reasonably neat because I made it that way prior to leaving for
Georgia. I doubt than any human can safely fit much more stuff in there now.
I have creatively maxed it out. It appears that pallets are now outside the
room awaiting the delayed monitors from MidPac. 50 is an awful lot. It
should fit in the space provided. I will be back on island this Wednesday.
If you or others can wait until Thursday or Friday, I will meet you for a
thorough organizing.

Let me stress this again: ALL contacts with Pricebusters really need to go
through me. Please don't call someone there at this point unless you are me,
Dean, or Al. I have explained why in other threads. Once we are established,
many of you will be able to come and go at your leisure to help. The
willingness to help is HUGE. Unfortunately, I have been indisposed at the
worst time. Because I have sold Pricebusters on the idea of accomodating us,
and because my reputation is tied to our responsibility, I need to
micromanage just a bit in the beginning so that I can be certain that we are
pleasing our key constituents. Bear with me on this one, and we will create
a relationship with Pricebusters that will outlast all of us.

Hi Scott,

Julie says she can give them the space on the pallets outside the room
as the room is nearly full if they come early in the week. If they call
me ahead by a few hours I can meet them at Pricebusters to help them
unload.
