Hi,

Default applications are discussed on separate threads on the mailing
list, and specific wiki pages.
See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Applications and

Fixed for the next alpha.

It needs composite manager to be really usefull, and openbox is not a
composite manager. Also, having composite support is not really a
priority, it increases needed ressources, and support is not perfect,
especially with old hardware.

It's already deprecated in favor of software-center. However, we already
have synaptic to install packages and new programs.

Too much GNOME depends.

Java depends, and I don't think it's crucial enough to include it.

We have already an image manager : GPicView.

Discussion about the browser will begin soon :)

We already use transmission.

Already installed on Alpha 2

[Lubuntu-desktop] package suggestions (and missings)

2010-01-28 Thread 神癒礁湖
I've installed Lubuntu Alpha 2. Here's a list of packages I think must
be included in final distro:

cups (it cannot print!)
osd-notify
gnome-app-install
brasero (xfburn doesn't burn in some LGs)
charmap
gthumb (there's no photo manager)
mirage (light and has no dependencies)
midori (instead of firefox, so we don't use Thunderbird as well)
bittransmission-gui
gnome-mplayer (instead of smplayer, no QT libraries)
listen or audacious (insted of the ugly and difficult aqualung)
update-manager-core (but there're package conflicts)

Do you like it? I think Lubuntu, with these changes, will not increase
too much its ISO or installation size.
