2011-09-08 Thread Rafael Laguna
Yes, they seemed to be very clear when doing the appliance. But nothing has
changed. In fact, now I'm a bit more involved within the Ubuntu machinery.

So I'm (and want to be) more and more implicated in a project that I bet
since its first appearance: Lubuntu. So thanks so much to all the crew, you
mave this possible

(And somebody owe me a beer!)

 To All,

Well, next time you get a squiggle from Rafael,

 https://launchpad.net/~ubuntumembers

It has been added also at https://launchpad.net/~rafaellaguna

now he needs to is choose his @ubuntu.com email address.

 Rafael,

Congratulations, I did hear that that it went through pretty quickly on
this application. We did get enough people, and you got enough of your work
looked at for the correct decision to be made. It is, for me, nice to see
the doubters who cannot take the time to look into applications to be found
 wanting. You were not.

 Regards,

 Phill.

Hi Everyone,

@Phill:
Never mind, I know you are busy and thank you for directing me on how to
reply. I didn't want to hit reply all previously because I was in need to
make sure if I have to or not. Now, I know I need to do that for faster
answers :)
I'm sorry for being in hurry but as you know, I'm still new and need some
time to get used to these kind of things. My apology.

@Mario:
Thanks for you, Mario and it's my pleasure to join you guys :)

1- I didn't find that channel, could you please post me the link again?
I joined OFTC but when I searched for lxde, I didn't find it.

2- I don't mind at all and I agree with that. I need to know them and they
need to know me :)

I do agree and that is exactly what I want at the moment. Taking care of
spam because I noticed there are a lot of them and other stuff. Being a
Super Admin is too early for me. I need to prove myself first and need to
know the other guys first.

Thank you Mario and Phill as always and good luck Phill with your trip. I
think I need to check my teeth because I haven't done that in ages.

Regards,
Ali

 Hi everyone,

@ Phil: Thank you for directing Ali. There are different opinions
about crosspostings on lists. Personally, I prefer to stick to the
appropriate list - which is the LXDE list for Alis question.
Nevertheless, as you wrote you want it on both lists, I am following
 your wish this time.

@ Ali: Thank you for supporting everyone in the community. Yes, we
would be happy to have you joining the admin team.

Firstly please join the IRC of LXDE on oftc.net #lxde. Here you find
other people to talk to about what an admin needs to do on the forum.
You can talk to 'brother', 'mwei' and 'maces' for example, who take
care of a lot of things in the community.

Secondly, as you are relatively new, I would suggest we wait for 1
week (until Sep. 18) before you become admin to give people the chance
to give opinions. If there are no objections we can add you. There are
several admin roles. The one most applicable for you would be a role
to take care of posts and user as well as spam (would be great). If
you want to become a 'super admin' taking care of technical aspects
you can contact us at a later time again.

 All the best,

 Mario

[Lubuntu-desktop] Audio Conf for Lubuntu

I know we are pass the freeze, but maybe this shortcut could be added to
preferences menu for 11.10. I think for a lot of people it's useful to
control the mic and all that stuff in alsamixer. Plus, there's nothing to
add but this little shortcut :)
And maybe there's a way to show lxterminal without the menus???

Completely agree that a terminal app scares a lot of people, but in
particular this one it's more friendly than it seems. In the interest of
making it more friendly i asked for how to show lxterminal without the menus
:)
And meanwhile we have nothing to do this job, alsamixer it's the best
candidate (as it's already in Lubuntu!). Maybe if there's time, the sound
applet could be connected to it somehow... but that's another story.

I think an easy shell script writing the don't show menubar in the config for
executing alsamixer should do the trick. Another way would be executing
alsamixer in xterm instead of lxterminal

  Hi,

lubuntu-software-center is available in this PPA :
  https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop/+archive/ppa
 https://launchpad.net/%7Elubuntu-desktop/+archive/ppa
  https://launchpad.net/%7Elubuntu-desktop/+archive/ppa
Don't forget it's still a work in progress, but it should be
quite usable now. Please report any bugs on the launchpad project

[Lubuntu-desktop] ozone2 menu

2011-09-08 Thread (Rafael Laguna)
Julien informed about an error on some menu backgrounds (here's his
screenshot), but on my system nothing happens (here's mine). Please,
check this out and tell me if anything's wrong.

Thanks for feedback! :)

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Audio Conf for Lubuntu

2011-09-08 Thread Jean-Pierre Vidal Piesset
xterm gets the effect wanted!!

2011/9/8 Leszek Lesner leszek.les...@web.de

 ohiom...@gmail.com

I agree. A link to sound preferences makes sense.
The only issues I see are 1) alsamixer is not very intuitive and 2) it
dumps users into a terminal which might scare the crap out of many of them.
 :)

I think an easy shell script writing the don't show menubar in the config
for executing alsamixer should do the trick. Another way would be executing
alsamixer in xterm instead of lxterminal
