[Lubuntu-desktop] Bug: Missing some driver files for Broadcom wireless 4321
Hi, I cannot get any wireless networks. I tried to install the drivers for it through Preferences>Hardware Drivers but the process stalls because some files/dependencies are missing: W: Échec de la récupération de http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/g/gcc-4.4/gcc-4.4_4.4.4-14ubuntu4_i386.deb 404 Not Found [IP : 91.189.88.40 80] W: Échec de la récupération de http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/g/gcc-4.4/libstdc++6-4.4-dev_4.4.4-14ubuntu4_i386.deb 404 Not Found [IP : 91.189.88.40 80] W: Échec de la récupération de http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/g/gcc-4.4/g++-4.4_4.4.4-14ubuntu4_i386.deb 404 Not Found [IP : 91.189.88.40 80] The files are associated with Synaptic's: broadcom-sta-source It cannot be installed properly. A lot of people will not get wireless unless this is fixed. Is there a way around? [Lubuntu-desktop] BUG: 10.10 Beta1: MAJOR GRUB ISSUE
Hi all, Grub does not detect all partitions possibly because a system has both a rescue partition and a main partition for Windows. Happened to me on 2 Vista machines. Reinsalling Vista did not fix the problem. Also tried to reinstall GRUB and update it without success. Also tried and failed with the Vista bootrec commands. For newbies and many Linux users, this is a worst case horror scenario. People are going to be furious, installing side-by-side and loosing access to Windows totally. Many will never come back to Linux... meaning also less support... I finally added an entry to grub.cfg (which will be deleted at the next update) but most newbies and many Linux users will not know how to do this. The partition and boot info was there, all GRUB had to do was list it! THIS ABSOLUTELY NEED TO BE FIXED... BETTER ONE ADDITIONAL ENTRY THAN A MAIN ONE MISSING! Thanks. [Lubuntu-desktop] BUG: 10.10 Beta1: Cannot Change Login Name
Hi all, I am able to modify the Name of my user account (Users & Groups). However, that does not change the login name, which is what I and most people would want to do. If I try to login under the new name, it does not work. But the old one, even though it has been changed, still works. Is there an alternative way to do this? Can this bug be fixed? Thanks. [Lubuntu-desktop] Fwd: 10.10 Beta1 2 Bugs: Remasterys
Remastersys now works (by reinstalling Lubuntu & doing update before installing Remastersys) HOWEVER... there is still a Network Manager Problem below. Original Message Subject: 10.10 Beta1 2 Bugs: Remasterys & Network Manager Date: Wed, 08 Sep 2010 10:02:18 -0400 From: Pierre Yahoo Reply-To: pierrewinni...@yahoo.ca To: lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Julien & Others, I was very impressed with Lubuntu Lucid... very stable & opened everything I threw at it. 10.10 Beta1: Installing Remastersys failed (latest sourceforge version 2.0.17-1.deb). GDebi error: ... did not recognize flags. Lucid & Maverick Network Manager Network Manager (perhaps Applet in LXPanel) The only instability issue I had in Lucid (will probably be the same in Maverick) is the Network Manager. It failed to connect to the Internet (wired) on a number of occasions. Tried to reinstall and various other things without success. Now, I have no access to Edit and VPN Connection windows (clicking on the options does not open the window)... i.e. cannot change anything or redo the connection if it fails. It is a MAJOR PROBLEM as a computer without network access is useless. Was not able to reinstall... not sure what to reinstall exactly... or got message that program was being used. It is probably a simple fix but if you do not know it, you have to reinstall everything. What and how do I reinstall it exactly (including how and which 'program in used' to terminate) to fix this problem? Could not seem to find the correct answer in forums. Thanks. [Lubuntu-desktop] Fwd: 10.10 Beta1 2 Bugs: Desktop Icon Placement
After a few reboots the desktop icons moved 3 inches down and one to the right without apparent reason but seemed to be related with changes in Openbox setup. Similar problem in Lucid (moved 4 inches down). Most people prefer to have them lined up left and top and place opened windows on the right to keep access to shortcut. Hope you can solve the problem. It is a disfunction and annoyance and makes one of the best Linux distro look much less than it is. [Lubuntu-desktop] BUGS: VISUDO PERMISSION NOT WORKING
Visudo permissions do not work. I tried to give myself permissions for password-free actions typing sudo visudo in a terminal (e.g. to hibernate using a shortcut (launcher) myusername ALL=NOPASSWD:/usr/sbin/pm-hibernate or myusername ALL=NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/srm to make a secure-delete trashcan). It does not work, the same command and launcher worked in Debian and Puppy but not in Lubuntu. It works, however, if I already signed in with password in a terminal or Synaptic. [Lubuntu-desktop] BUGS: Pcmanfm Deletes the wrong file
Tested Beta3 using single click to open files: Pcmanfm often deletes the wrong file (or renames the wrong one, or opens the wrong one). These are serious problems. It makes Lubuntu itself totally unreliable. People will ditch Lubuntu and never come back to it if it is not fixed rapidly! You can lose a month's work in a click. Cause: When hovering over a file, it takes 1/2 second for it to be selected. If you had one file already selected and moved over to another one to delete it, right-clicking on it in less than 1/2 second (i.e. before it is selected), Pcmanfm deletes the FIRST file (even if it appears to no longer be selected). I have used single-click in Windows and Debian/Openbox/Rox-filer without the delay or problems. This is not normal behavior. Pcmanfm people were informed (at SourceForge) almost three weeks ago but the problem is still not fixed. As you know, the trashcan does not work. -- Pierre Champagne pierrewinni...@yahoo.ca http://wavesofthefuture.net ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
