That’s rather a neat little app. I’m not really a dock fan but it does make
Lubuntu look rather good. Pity it isn’t being maintained any more but, it looks
like somebody wants to take it on.

Loving the Lucid release guys, finally got a new PC (well P3 500Mhz is
HARDLY new).

I Thoroughly recommend wbar for all you guys liking launcher bars. It
doesn't hold minimised apps like AWN but it's damn good.

Here's my desktop:

Small, fast and works. Thought I'd share the love

I could never get pyNeighborhood to work so I installed Nautilus instead to
connect to my Windows network. If the new pcmanfm can handle the task, then I
would be happy to remove pyNeighborhood. This was using the pyNeighborhood
that was installed by default with Lubuntu, I did not install the PPA version
you mentioned.

According to the application's website, parcellite:

Keeps a clipboard history.
Various view options to display items the way you like it.
Daemon mode; guard your clipboard contents when you close applications.
Global hotkeys to display your items quickly.
Perform custom commands using clipboard contents.

None of them seems to be essential for basic clipboard function. Personally,
I never used it, and copy & paste always worked as I expected.

Although 'clipboard guarding' seems to be useful enough, I don't think it is
necessary enough to warrant its place in the meta-package.

[Lubuntu-desktop] Cleaning Lubuntu applications (part 1)

2010-05-31 Thread Julien Lavergne
Hi,

I would like to discuss the removal of several applications :

- parcelite
The main goal was to add a clipboard manager, because old pcmanfm didn't
manage it well.

Now that pcmanfm2 is used, I would like to know if people experiment
problems with copy & paste without parcelite. If you don't have any
problems, we could remove it from the meta-package.

Also, parcelite is abandoned upstream
(http://parcellite.sourceforge.net/?p=89), so don't expect improvement
in maverick cycle.

- pyNeighborhood
With pcmanfm now using gvfs, we have good support for mounting. I wonder
if we really need a GUI for managing mounts.

Also, It seems that the current version on 10.04 is broken, if you want
to test and add feedbacks, be sure to test the PPA version
(https://launchpad.net/~pyneighborhood/+archive/stable)

If you think about other things to remove, feel free to add them in the
discussion.

Please note that adding and replacing applications should be discuss in
separate topics :)

Regards,
Julien Lavergne
