Hi,

Another change in the schedule, the session on Packaging tasks which should
start in 30 minutes will be canceled, most of the discussions on this topic
will be made on Friday, for the Community goals for LXDE session.

Some last minutes changes :
Today session Default Applications will be 1 hour later, 17h10 (23h10 UTC),
Room Lonestar II. A specific session for the choice of the browser in mobile
edition of Ubuntu (that can interest us also) will take place at 16h10 (22h10
UTC), Room Vinoy (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Specs/ArmLightweightBrowser). It's
not Lubuntu specific but their goals are similar.

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Ubuntu submit sessions for Lubuntu

2009-11-17 Thread Julien Lavergne
Hi,

Thanks for the video, there is some nice ideas that we should discuss in the
future.
Some quick comments:
I like the idea of the button for the main menu, it's really more visual that
the classic icon.
About all filemanger or drive handling, we should wait the new pcmanfm, which
will be bring some new good stuff.
The power manager is already here (the gnome one for now), just not start on
login. I plan to fix this shortly. Using this one or the XFCE one should be
discuss in the futur too.
The missing volume control is also something that should be fixed shortly.
Also, the choice of the browser, the video player or e-mail client will be
discuss. Browser will be very discussed I think :)

Don't hesitate to open bugs on Launchpad if you see some things are not fixed
(only for bug, not design/application choice :))

Julien Lavergne

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Ubuntu submit sessions for Lubuntu

2009-11-15 Thread Mario Behling
Hi,

thanks a lot for the info. I am organizing the GNOME.Asia Summit in
Vietnam at the moment with core participation of LXDE. So, I am afraid
I do not have time to participate remotely.

Even though remote participation is generally difficult, I still hope
we can push our goals with the help of Paul Liu and Arne Goetje, who I
talked to in Taiwan a few days ago. I would like to see a get together
of Lighweight Ubuntu developers and LXDE developers. Since most of
them are in Asia, it would be best to meet up here. March or April
2010 would be a good time. I hope we can get the support of Canonical
for such an event.

I am very happy with David Sugar's involvement in lubuntu. He has done
a great job involving more people. Still, I would like to support to
(also) have an upstream developer of LXDE at Canonical focusing on
lubuntu. Paul Liu is a core member of LXDE and is responsible for the
LXDE packages in Ubuntu for a long time. As, I see only very few
developers of Canonical in Asia. For example here in Vietnam there are
a lot of people interested to become l/Ubuntu developers. To make this
a success we need face to face developer gatherings and workshops.

I hope we can get these ideas to Canonical apart from development goals.

All the best,

Mario
