I tried "advanced options" and into "recovery" and "dpkg" . . . and that said, "fixed, please reboot" . . . which I did . . . spent about an hour trying different stuff . . . none of it seemed to get into the GUI . . . . Seems like the driver from nvidia isn't working with any of the latest kernels . . . from 5.20 and 5.17 . . . . Re: [lubuntu-users] Error: the new mouse does not sweep clean in Lu 19.10?
@Walter: Previous post: "So today, back in Lu 19.10, and logging into the GUI shows the "system program problem" error window once again . . . I ran an update/upgrade in Lu and then rebooted back into U-MATE for the comparison, which continued to **not** show this same error window that it had a day or so back. Ran an update/upgrade there and then rebooted back into Lu 19.10 . . . and the error window continues . . . without capacity for stating "the reasons for this error" . . . ?? > > > F" > So again today I got back to Lu 19.10 fiddled around in the GUI, then just a few minutes ago I ran an "apt update/upgrade" . . . at the end of which then finally "showed" some errors in the console . . . as well as opening a fresh "system program problem" again . . . which had also loaded when I logged in . . . . The problem reported was:
Errors were encountered while processing: nvidia-dkms-430 nvidia-driver-430 E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Nvidia drivers were added likely before this "system program problem" report error stuff, by way of "Additional Drivers" . . . and I usually pick the newest, but "proprietary, tested" option that is listed . . . GUI video seems to be working just fine, but somehow seems to be kicking up an "error." Hard to know if there are other "errors" that are also happening along with this nvidia error, but this is the one that finally showed up in the console . . . which didn't make any suggestions about how I could "fix" the errors--just showed them.
