Well, Lubuntu has been working so well, I haven't run into anything I

I have monitored the Lubuntu Users e-mails, and occasionally (rarely)

I originally installed Lubuntu as a test system, and I kept updating it
to the latest version.  I'm not sure which level I started with.

When I upgraded to Lubuntu 20.04 (in a terminal session, using "sudo
do-release-upgrade -d"), things seemed to be working well, and I was
able to install my Eclipse Java development environment, and things were
working well.

My Ubuntu 20.04 upgrade (which I was thinking of switching to), didn't
end up with a working Eclipse development environment.

Using the LXDE desktop on Lubuntu 20.04, I was able to even use my
strange color scheme, which I like a lot, and things were working in
Eclipse.

So I restored my production files from 16.04 to the 20.04 system, and
started working with that.

That process proceeded without many problems, so I 'transferred my flag'
to the new system.

I'm just now cleaning up the last few 'rough edges'.

The thing I like most about the new system, is that Rosegarden now loads
channel recording filters (which it didn't on 16.04, and LibreOffice
Writer, once again allows you to produce HTML files where graphics
images are linked-to in the HTML file, rather than forcing you to embed
them as data within the HTML file.

I've been using an old copy of openSUSE Linux for editing HTML
web-pages, because of the need to keep the graphics images separate.
But now, I can use my production system to do it once again.

What is the content of the the Exec line in the desktop file? Does it

By the way, chromium does appear in the menu, when using the Lubuntu
(LXQT) desktop.  It just doesn't appear in the menu on the LXDE desktop.

I tried the following in the LXDE desktop.

I checked the ownership and permissions of chromium-browser in /usr/bin,
and they are the same as things I can execute from the menu.

I purged (completely removed) chromium using the muon package manager,
and removed chromium using Discover (which uses snap packages).

Then I installed it using Discover.

Chromium did not appear in the menu.

I installed chromium using Synaptic Package Manager.  It still didn't
appear in the LXDE menu.

I was able to create a link to chromium-browser (in /usr/bin) in the
Desktop folder, so now I at least have a non-typing way of running
chromium on the LXDE desktop.

[snip]

I spent some time last night poking at the installer trying different things.
Basically, installing with LVM is just borked in the current installer. Even
excluding LUKS and just trying to do a simple 1 partition LVM doesn't work
because it doesn't allow you to add to the LVM, just set an LVM partition. Yes,
it creates a new drop down when you create the physical volume group (cleverly
hidden in a menu behind the disk you are installing to) but it doesn't allow
adding a logical volume.

I did manage to do an install where I simply had /boot/efi and / partitions
with a partition marked for LVM (but unused) so I could have taken the time to
just carve out the LVM the way I want and sync/mount them. But I didn't want to
mess with that, plus I wanted to experiment more. Eventually, I settled on just
doing "physical" partitions encrypted with LUKS carved up the way I want it. I
don't get any of the niceties of LVM, but at least it works.

So there are two major faults of the installer, in my opinion.
1. LVM is just completely non-functional unless the work was already done
outside of the installer.
2. The installer doesn't allow the user to unlock LUKS.

I discovered a simple test for the second one; start up the installer and
create a new partition. Check the box for encrypted and give it a password.
Typo the mount point to be /hmoe and save to go back to the main partitioner
screen. Now edit that new partition to fix the typo...can't can you? Nope...At
least I couldn't figure it out. Had to delete the partition and re-create it.

Don't know if anyone will find this feedback useful, but at least I've got an
install that I'm "happy" with the partitions.

Thank you,
~Stack~

Yep. Or make your own. Same as on LXDE (except you'd get GTK not Qt
themes).

The appearance of the windows, and color scheme (if possible).

The first one works the same way as with all version of Lubuntu: you
change the Openbox settings. LXQt isn't even involved. And there

I saw that, but as I recall, there were very few (or only one) choices.

I don't know how to fix it, but a likely cause is that between 18.04
