Has anyone tried indexing xml files: DigesterXMLHandler.java file before?

2005-02-02 Thread jac jac

Hi,

I just tried to compile DigesterXMLHandler.java from the LIA codes which I
have gotten from the src directory.

I placed it into my own directory...

I could't seem to be able to compile DigesterXMLHandler.java:
It keeps prompting:

DigesterXMLHandler.java:9: package org.apache.commons.digester does not exist
import org.apache.commons.digester.Digester;
   ^
DigesterXMLHandler.java:19: cannot resolve symbol
symbol : class Digester
location: class lia.handlingtypes.xml.DigesterXMLHandler
  private Digester dig;
  ^
DigesterXMLHandler.java:25: cannot resolve symbol
symbol : class Digester
location: class lia.handlingtypes.xml.DigesterXMLHandler
dig = new Digester();

I have set the classpath...

May I know how do we run the file in order to get my index folder?
so sorry, i really can't interpret the way to run it...
are there any documentation around...?

thanks very much!

Hi

May I know whether Lucene currently supports indexing of xml documents?

I tried building an index to index all my directories in webapps:
via:

java org.apache.lucene.demo.IndexFiles /homedir/tomcat/webapps

then I tried using the following command to search:

java org.apache.lucene.demo.SearchFiles

and i typed in my query. I was able to see the files which directs me the path
which holds my data.

However, when I do
java org.apache.lucene.demo.IndexHTML -create -index /homedir/index ..

and I went to my website I realised it can't serach for the data I wanted
instead.

I want to search data within XML documents... May I know if the current demo
version allows indexing of XML documents?

Why is it that after I do java org.apache.lucene.demo.IndexHTML -create -index
/homedir/index .. then the data I wanted can't be searched? thanks alot!

They probably don't know how to type a ć. How _do_ you pronounce

 Anyhow, enjoy Lucene in Action!

 Already doing so!

Please help - installation problem

2005-01-10 Thread jac jac
Hi all,

This is jac here, and I am currently in urgent need to install Lucene on a unix
machine. However, I am not sure where to set the paths coz I am unfamiliar with
Unix am a newbie to Java as well.

I have installed Lucene on the Windows version and it works but I cant
understand why unix can't..

The following paths are what I have entered:
Can someone please check for me?

- PATH=.:$PATH:$ANT_HOME/bin
- TOMCAT_HOME=/home/jac/jakarta-tomcat-3.2.4
- ANT_HOME=/home/jac/apache-ant-1.6.2
- CLASSPATH=$TOMCAT_HOME/webapps/luc/WEB-INF/lib/lucene-1.4.3.jar:
$TOMCAT_HOME/webapps/luc/WEB-INF/lib/lucene-demos-1.4.3

Can I also know if tomcat version 3.2.4 is sufficient for Lucene to run?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
jac

Hi I am a newbie and i just installed Tomcat on my machine.
May I know, when i placed the Luceneweb folder in the webapps folder of Tomcat,
how come I couldn't conduct the search operation when i test the website? Did I
missed out anything?

It prompts me that there is no c:\opt\index\segment folder...
I created but i still couldnt get Lucene to work...

At http://jakarta.apache.org/lucene/docs/demo.html:
under the Indexing file instruction where should I do the following type java
org.apache.lucene.demo.IndexFiles {full-path-to-lucene}/src. ???
Is it a must to install ant?

Please kindly help!!! Thanks very much in advance
