[LUTE] Re: Things you didn't know you should worry about

I've also been wondering if the reference is to the performer or audience
member... If the latter, I would think another product to prevent the dropping
of jaws in response to a lute performance (whether particularly good or bad)
might be a market as well.

[LUTE] Re: Starting Theorbo

2018-07-11 Thread Mathias Rösel
Doni seems to be a good advice. But first try to get the basic idea of playing
the theorbo, viz. playing with reentrant tuning. It's not the same as playing
the lute. Or rather, you will easily hear when somebody actually plays the lute
on a theorbo.
Start playing simple scales, starting on the 3rd course. That's for both your
right and left hands.
And there's a method for the theorbo out there by Francesca Torelli IICR.

[LUTE] Lute player Sept 29, 2018, Lancaster, Pennsylvania

2018-07-11 Thread Leonard Williams
I just received this from the Lute Society (in UK). Can anyone help
out with this? Ironically, I live in Lancaster, but my playing is no
where near up to performing. I know of no on else in the area who
   might be of assistance.
   Regards,
   Leonard Williams

Have a look into the Seicento Catalogue ===>
http://www.seicentomusic.de/seite03.html. There is some easy music for theorbo.
