I'm interested in putting a strap button onto my lute close to the neck-body joint (ie, around the 11th fret).
Before investing the time, money, and irreversibility in having one installed, I'd like to try a temporary button at that location. Is it feasible to attach such a temporary button/hook without danger to the lute or its finish? How might one do this?
