[LUTE-BUILDER] Re: rib thickness
Lundberg's book has been on my shelves for about five years (give or take). I also have David van Edward's on-line book. Medical problems stopped my scratch lute building temporarly, but I find the combination of the two to be worth having. David covers things that Robert left out, and Robert covers some things David doesn't. If you have any intent of building a lute, or any other instrument with the gourd shaped back, I'd get both. Each of use has different skills, the shaping of the base mould is skelatal in one and solid in the other. Better to see all the options and choose the way you want to go. Another two weeks to pry it out of the hands of an insane FedEx terminal. Not bad for a postumous publication, but would have been better had Robert lived to see it in print. Hopefully someone will try again on the topic of his title, this book is worth owning and spending time with, but it falls short of covering the topic in depth. -- Dana Emery To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
