Not having tried this myself, that comment just suddenly raised a
question in my mind. Does this create an chicken and egg situation? I
know debootstrap will use it to try and build the container but does the
template then make any attempts to use the apt settings in the container
during the creation process before they can be tweaked? Seems like that
could create a problem where we're chrooting into a container rootfs.
I'm now wondering if the Fedora and CentOS templates I maintain could
have a problem there. I may have to set up a proxy to test against,
myself, for yum.

Probably not, it has to be set manually, though I've never tried that.

Hi,

I am using lxc-create on the latest version of Linux Mint. Following is the
error message

 sudo lxc-create -n ubuntu01 -t ubuntu

Installing packages in template: ssh,vim,language-pack-en
Downloading ubuntu precise minimal ...
I: Retrieving Release
E: Failed getting release file
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise/Release
lxc_container: container creation template for ubuntu01 failed
lxc_container: Error creating container ubuntu01

I am working behind a proxy server. All my proxy settings are fine. I have
aslo added the proxy details in `/etc/apt/apt.conf` using
`Acquire::http:Proxy=proxy and port;` (+https and ftp). But, it did not
work.

I tried changing mirror in `/etc/default/lxc` file as well. Changing the
MIRROR field to `http://host-ip:3142/...`. But no success.

Where does lxc-create read the proxy settings from? Where should I do the
configuration? Am I missing something here? Port number 22 is blocked by my
proxy server. Does not affect?

Thanks,
Sriram

Hi,

There was no problem with apt but, I had issue using debootstrap. Had to
set up the proxy settings in /etc/wgetrc. All fine now.

Thanks for the help. :)
