Re: [Lynx-dev] File Collisions
If you use wget to do those npr downloads, use the --trust-server-names switch and the random junk gets removed. This also happens with sourceforge.net downloads and that's how I found out how to fix this problem. Re: [Lynx-dev] File Collisions
Martin, Speaking personally? Giving Lynx a way to automate anything seems a bit risky. I feel the method shared for chime, should work for you as well, hit control k or control u, and name the file as you desire. Granted I am rather picky about organization, and while pleased the nls structure allows for downloads in lynx, I would still be naming them myself. I do this in bookshare all the time, regardless of the file name provided, I change it to something workable for me. Re: [Lynx-dev] File Collisions
Hi Chime, As I am in DOS exclusively, the file naming dance is a standard one. depending on the editor you have associated with your edition of Lynx, either type control plus k or control plus u. that will get you a field spoken as enter the file name, allowing you to give the file whatever name you desire. If the file is an .mp3 however, I am sure you realize that part should be included. Martin McCormick dixit: >Is there any feature in lynx that adds a random file extention to >the name of a file one is about to save to make sure it is >unique? lynx checks that the file does not exist, and if it does, shows File exists. Overwrite? (y/n) and when entering n you can enter the desired filename. This is better than automagically adding random extensions, because only this way you’ll then know which file is which (and you can over‐ write deliberately; this is something I’m often doing for example). bye, //mirabilos -- Solange man keine schmutzigen Tricks macht, und ich meine *wirklich* schmutzige Tricks, wie bei einer doppelt verketteten Liste beide Pointer XORen und in nur einem Word speichern, funktioniert Boehm ganz hervorragend. -- Andreas Bogk über boehm-gc in d.a.s.r ___ Lynx-dev mailing list Lynx-dev@nongnu.org https://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/lynx-dev

one thing that's possible is to add a unique extension to the file name once save is selected. for today, I'd use .c27.1 for the first file and .c27.2 for the second file downloaded.
