I use Slackware (and update daily).  ncurses6-config --version
returns 6.1.20180324 ; ncursesw is the same version.  They're in the
same Slackware package.

Perhaps your system has different versions of ncurses libraries installed.
(There was a recent bug in Red Hat where someone did that...)
