this should go in before RC2.


It's in now as it fixes a release stopper:

The patch is from Georg I tested it hardly.
(It turned out that it was me who introduced this bug while I added support for the wasysym symbols 
in the unicodesymbols file.)

this should go in before RC2.

Bug 1942 is still not fixed, but this can be done later as this is a cosmetic 
bug.
Seeking for another OK to commit.
