Edit-Text STyle-Customized...
You get a dialog - change to whatever size you need.

Oops, you're right ! I opened that dialog so many times,
without seeing what was just there !!

On a related note, I have a similar issue with a \textsl{}
within every cell of a table. This time, whatever I choose
from the Text Style dialog, it is added within the \textsl{}
command, that remains there.
