with original English menu strings?

BTW, AFAIK LyX doesn't store encoding information set in "Options /
Screen fonts" - you have to explicitly specify Latin 2 with

   \screen_font_encoding iso8859-2

in your ~/.lyx/lyxrc file to make it default.


Yes, but it sets default encoding for both menu and editor.
