Dear Behzad, I am trying to add Farsi support based on LaTeX2e ARABI Package. What I have done until now is that I have added the Farsi presentation (writing or shaping) to LyX. Unfortunately we need more work on ARABI package rather than LyX. Currently we have two options for LaTeX2e and Farsi: 1) ARABI 2) TeX-e-Parsi I know that TeX-e-Parsi is really better, but it has many limitations, e.g. the O.S., the editor, and the TeX engine. We have another version of Omega named Omega2 in the near future (but who guarantees). However we should try not to make LyX much dependent on ARABI package. Mostafa - Fussy? Opinionated? Impossible to please? Perfect. Join Yahoo!'s user panel and lay it on us.

lyx farsi support??
hi I want to do some coding help. My language is persian(farsi) and I want to help Lyx support farsi.But I don't have experience coding for multi-lingual documents.Can anyone help me where to start? regards behzad

Hello Behzad, We have already a Farsi developper around (Mostafa Vahedi). In principle Farsi should be already supported in current svn (and since RC1 AFAIR). You are of course welcome to help us polishing it and more generally polishing Right-To-Left language support (which has seen a lot of activity recently) First thing to do is to test LyX-svn ;-) Abdel.

Mostafa Vahedi has recently done a lot of work in order to get Farsi working in LyX. I think most of what he has done is already in the main trunk, so the latest development version (and RC2, which is supposed to be released soon) should work pretty well for Farsi. Have you tried this? Are there any other issues that you see which are not yet working for Farsi in LyX? In any case, Mostafa probably knows best what the current situation is, and what still needs to be done... Dov
