Notifications of modified files (Was: LyX wiki - modified files)

Below you can see that I've activate the notification of files, so from 
now on, whenever files are changed in the wiki, this list should get a 
message.


Please let me know if this is not good.

month ago on this list? Should we password protect better the pages
for windows and mac download?

Here is the relevant entry from the new README.localization file:

'' stands for underlined characters (shortcut) in dialog boxes.
'|' stands for underlined characters in menus.

These chars should be somehow used in your translations, however you'll have to 
invent your own working shortcuts for dialog and menu entries and resolve 
possible conflicts of the same shortcut chars in one menu... 

Note also that there are already used global shortcuts (such as p k x c m) and
you should avoid to use these characters for first-level menu shortcuts.

'$' and '%' are usually used as handlers for formatting or variables to be 
inserted into the strings. Character sequences like %1$s or %1$d MUST also 
appear in your translations! Please take them exactly as they are or you may 
experience crashes when running LyX.

[[Context]] is used to distinguish otherwise identical strings, which could
have different translation dependent on the Context. [[Context]] appears only
in msgid string and should not be repeated in the translated version.

No, currently the wiki works as a Wiki should work: Vandalism and wrong entries will be removed by 
the users quickly.

Obsolete information in the FAQ?

Hi,

In sub-section 1.4 it is written that LyX needs XServer in order to have it
work on a Windows machine. As far as I can remember I didn't install any
XServer software when I installed LyX on a windows machine. Is this
information provided in the FAQ.lyx is correct regarding the newer versions
of LyX? I see that this FAQ was written originally for version 1.0.

Yes, the FAQ is completely out of date. But I don't think it's worth to update it, since the new 
docs cover also the FAQ issues.

whenever the page Windows.Windows is changed, Uwe will get a mail.
In other words, that some pages would have some kind of chief editor or 
something.

But I already get an email whenever a wiki-page is changed. I can then 
look at the important wiki-pages what has been changed.


You mean that lyx-docs get an email, and then you have to check what pages 
were changed.  What I'm talking about is getting a separate mail if a 
specific, very important, page is changed.


However, if you are careful and look at the general mail, there is no need 
for a separate mail of course.

As I said, several people are watching the svn messages that are send to the docs-list. So when a 
link was changed, this can easily be reverted. And at ftp.lyx.org are only virus-free binaries.

As I said, several people are watching the svn messages that are send to the docs-list. So when a 
link was changed, this can easily be reverted. And at ftp.lyx.org are only virus-free binaries.
