Having this button that points to a directory the user have set in the preferences would speed up the work a lot. I propose that we keep clipart/ for compatibility reasons and add doc/images/ and doc/xx/images for documentation. I'll do the renaming to "images" if nobody complaints the next days. regards Uwe

Yes, and therefore the graphics inset should not have links to there anymore? Are there people who have put their images in .lyx/cliparts? Should we cater for that? I propose that we keep clipart/ for compatibility reasons and add doc/images/ and doc/xx/images for documentation. JMarc

Clipart implies that there are some figures that you can use in your own documents, and this is not the case. If we want to have such a folder we should probably use what http://www.openclipart.org/ provides. AFAIK this is part of debian and suse anyway. To me it looks as if we will never have such a folder, so you should rename all clipart folders to 'images'. Georg

And it should probably be renamed to images/ or somesuch. This folder is only for graphics used in the docs and have always been. Renaming is not necessary as the folder contains not only images but could also icons etc. The question that remains is: do we want a global cliparts directory for documents (where people can put their company logo or whatever)? Uwe, you have to discuss the consequences of your change (shall we remove the buttons that go to cliparts/ in the Insert>Graphics dialog?) No, as I wrote in a bugzilla entry (it's currently down) that this button should remain but be costomizable. Everybody has its own special folder where he stores graphics. It should be possible in the preferences to set this path so that the button in Insert>Graphics opens this folder. The button name would then be "graphics". regards Uwe

You should discuss things like this first. For example, Jean-Marc wrote some time ago that the name 'clipart' is not really appropriate. Georg
