3 Questions in double column article class
Hi How to (for the "article" doc. class, Two columns) : (1) change (reduce) spacing introduced between Title and Date, (2) make a table float use the 2 columns (large table which does not fit within 1 column only) (3) using BibTeX biblio., how to make citation appear as [1,2,3,...,n] rather than [1],[2],...,[n] (i.e., now I can only Insert->Citation_Ref each one in isolation it seems ...) thx -- Frederic LEYMARIE, R&D Project leader Brown University, Division of Engineering, LEMS, Box D 182 Hope Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02912, U.S.A. Re: Q:noweb extension - how to use it?
Sorry my friends, I have just discovered I do NOT have lyx 1.0.1 but 1.0.0... I downloaded lyx-latest from a mirror assuming it was 1.0.1 and did the rest on 'auto-pilot' (cee-dee lyx-*; ./configure; make and off we go whee...) However, I have just got the lyx REAL 1.0.1 and attempted to install on Solaris 2.5.1. I am getting some strange errors from a file pl.mo about missing quotes. I see that a similar post has been made to the developer's list about the Solaris 2.6 build, so I won't bother you any more now. -- Barry Barry Gaunt wrote: > Hi, > I have just installed lyx 1.0.1 (on Solaris 2.5.1). Q:noweb extension - how to use it?
Hi, I have just installed lyx 1.0.1 (on Solaris 2.5.1). I wish to try the noweb extension. How do I use this new extension? I don't mean how to use noweb - I just cannot find any reference to it in any of lyx's pull-down menus. Just give me a pointer, please. depth-decrement, buffer-previous
Hello, I have two questions (I'm using 1.0.1pre4): 1. Is buffer-previous (C-x b) supposed to work? It doesn't for me, i.e. the command has no effect. I'm running LyX on a Sun, Solaris 2.6.1, CDE. 2. How is it possible to add an icon to the toolbar for depth-decrement? Supposing I have created the icon, how do I tell LyX about it? Is that explained somewhere? Not the same as the above but related, At least for fvwm the standard has been double click highlights (first button) a word, triple click highlights a line and the second button pastes a selection, and other variations on the buttons exist also. This seems to be missing from Lyx (although it exists from another application to lyx) There also it seems there are no standard keyboard editing features (Cut a line, word and copy elsewhere, delete a word, line, keyboard macros etc) Bruce begin: vcard fn: Uwe Assmann n: Assmann;Uwe email;internet: [EMAIL PROTECTED] x-mozilla-cpt: ;0 x-mozilla-html: FALSE version:2.1 end:vcard

Lyx and hp-unix-10.2
Hello, I'd like to start latex with Lyx-1.0 but my system is hp-unix 10.2 and I could not compile it. The error messages I am getting when I try to configure the compilation (./configure) are as follow: The following problems have been detected by configure. Please check the messages below before running 'make'. (see the section 'Problems' in the INSTALL file) ** Can't find libXpm. Please check that the Xpm library is correctly installed on your system. ** Can't find libforms or libxforms. Please check that the xforms library is correctly installed on your system. ** Can't find forms.h. Please check that the forms library is correctly installed on your system. It looks to me that some libraries are missing or that the PATH is wrong !!? Anyhow, I looked also for a binary version that I could use immediatly to try out Lyx and I found out that there was one for hp-unix-9.something only. This version is not running under hp-unix-10.2. Computer experts are telling me here that it is probably lots of work to make an upgrade. I'd like to have your advice about it and if possible, if any of you had a binary version running under hp unix 10.2, I could at least show to the computer experts how it looks like and convice them to do the job. At least I do not use Emacs or Xemacs due to its very clumsy, unintuitive and ugly graphical interface. Of course you can do almost everything with it if you just could remember how... So another way is do it like in Nedit and some other Motif-programs like Netscape. There you can press Shift and do the middle-click and a cut-and-paste operation is done instead of the standard copy-and-paste. Much more intuitive than any Drag'n'drop IMHO. Well, actually I support only one Drag-and-Drop protocol (Drag your sorry ass out of here and Drop dead) so maybe my opinions may not be very widely accepted. But still operation that does not differ much from the standard X-windows operation would be nice in X-applications. In many ways the Windows cut-and-paste is not most efficient way to use a computer (although many people do not know any other way). But what can you do when you don't even have enough buttons in the mouse in the first place :-) Best regards, -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Kimmo Koli Helsinki University of Technology [EMAIL PROTECTED] Electronic Circuit Design Laboratory http://www.ecdl.hut.fi/~kimmo P.O.Box 3000 Tel: +358 9 451 2273 FIN-02015 HUT Fax: +358 9 451 2269 Finland =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -- +++ the lyx project user mailing list +++ To unsubscribe from this list send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the **Subject** unsubscribe.

Undefined control sequence with AMS
Hi, yesterday I tried to use the standard(?) symbol for the real numbers from the AMS-Math-package - it should look like a big 'R' with to vertical lines instead of one. As far as the documentation is concerned this is done by typing \mathbb{R} in math-mode. Sadly this produces an undefined control sequence error with latex. I'm using the SuSE 6.0, LyX 1.0 with standard teTeX.
