Heavy hands on keyboard
I touch type (not overly well) and tend to hold my fingers on the keys which sometimes results in a typed character being repeated multiple times as a result of the autorepeat feature of the keyboard. For example I might accidentally mispell the word "form" as "fom". I would like to invoke the XAutoRepeatOff(display) function to turn off the autorepeat feature. Is there a way of doing this in lyx? I don't know how I can access the display structure that lyx uses when I envoke lyx. I am running lyx 1.0.4 from a Sun workstation. Thanks Ralph Boland
[off-topic message} was: rdr on internal network works under 3.3.11
My apologies for sending a note intended for the ip-filter list to the LyX list. Alas, a senior moment didn't mix well with short aliases like `lyx' and `ipf'. Regards, -- Ronald Florence http://members.home.net/18james
rdr on internal network works under 3.3.11
After upgrading from ip-filter3.3.3 to 3.3.11 on our sparc-solaris-2.6 server, I was delighted to find that rdr le0 24.7.4.75/32 port pop3 -> 192.101.32.1 port pop3 tcp which crashed the server on 3.3.3, works on 3.3.11. The purpose is to allow laptops to use the exterior network address for POP, even when they are hooked up on the inside network so users don't have to change the POP address when they move back and forth from connections outside the network to those inside. Thanks to Darren and others for the continued refinements and additions to ip-filter. -- Ronald Florence http://members.home.net/18james

lyx.org down for some hours
The work to prepare for the move of the LyX machines continues. This will be the last down time before that actual move. timetable: - now: machines down for a couple of hours max. - 3. april: machines down when moving, name servers need to sync up after that. In some places the pervceived downtime can be up to two days. (real downtime is more likely to be a couple of hours.) Lgb
Re: [iain@10xinc.com] Feedback from www.lyx.org
Iain I have used Lyx to write a provisional patent. I've attached a very brief example of how you can do it. You will need lineno.sty, see http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/help/Catalogue/entries/lineno.html I don't know how this package will go with two column mode though. In most conventional active noise control systems microphones are used as pressure error sensors. These tend to lead to poor global control in heavily damped enclosures, but they do tend to produce small, well controlled regions at the sensor. As an alternative to minimising pressures at the microphone locations, it is possible to control energy density. This has been shown to produce a broader zone of local control, but still localised to the actual transducers. \layout Standard The invention which is the subject of this document has the advantage that it it can sense, and therefore control, energy density at any location near to the actual transducers. The advantage of this approach is that the bulky transducer arrangement used to sense energy density is moved away from the desired control location (typically a passengers head). The way this is achieved is by using a 7-microphone transducer arrangement for three-dimensional sound fields (or 3-microphone transducer for one-dimensio nal sound fields). Figure \begin_inset LatexCommand \ref{fig:virtual ed sensor} \end_inset shows a typical physical arrangement of the three-dimensional virtual energy density sensor. \layout Standard \begin_float fig \layout Standard \align center \begin_inset Figure size 100 100 flags 9 \end_inset \layout Caption \begin_inset LatexCommand \label{fig:virtual ed sensor} \end_inset Transducer locations of the three-dimensional virtual energy density sensor for active noise control. \end_float \layout Standard Conventional energy density sensors calculate the energy density at the geometric centre of the transducers. In this invention, a forward difference approximation is used to estimate the energy density at some distance \begin_inset Formula \( x'=[h_{x},h_{y},h_{z}] \) \end_inset from the geometric centre \be

Hmm, this happens because LyX does not put a paragraph break between lists and the following paragraph. I cannot think of a simple workaround right now... JMarc

Invoice from networksolutions (lyx.org)
I just received an invoice for the lyx.org domain for $35.0 and since I am a bit recluctant to just shell out from my own account I once again put forward http://www.devel.lyx.org/funding.php3. It would be a great help to The LyX Project if you contribute some of your hard earned cash. (There are other things than domain fees that we could use money on too...) btw. Payment is due 25. april... Lgb

IndentFirst Problem
Hello list, at last, my thesis is finished, but I still have a problem with the IndentFirst package. IndentFirst is indenting allrigth all the first paragraphs, except for the ones that are after a enumerate, description or itemize paragraph. Anyone, can help? I'll apreciate very much your anwser on this one. Thanks.
