Problem with layout scrap in noweb mode

2000-07-17 Thread Martin Kraska

Hi,

I'm using Lyx 1.1.5 on AIX. The problem arises when using doc layout article
(noweb) using paragraph layout scrap.
 "/^ /" is exported to latex (and saved to the lyx-file) as "/^{ }/" or as "/^{}
/", depending on the sequence of typing. Both variants are wrong, verbatim
output is expected instead. The reason for this error might come from that
"scrap" layout is derived from "latex" layout, where such behaviour is possibly
desired.
How can I assure that the contents of "scrap" paragraphs are not messed up?

Thanks for your help, Regards, Martin Kraska.

 Style Proof
 ...
   Preamble
 \newenvironment{proof}{\emph{Proof:}}{\hfill\rule{2mm}{2mm}\par\vspace{2mm}}
   EndPreamble
 End

I obviously was not clear enough. I do have a definition of a proof
environment that I want/have to use without modifications.

It works in LaTeX iff \end{proof} is followed by \par (or an empty line).

When LyX exports to LaTeX it does not add \par (or an empty line) after
\end{proof} (Which is, after all, entirely reasonable)

I was asking how to convince LyX to add a \par in this special case
by using layout features only.

Andre'

PS: Somebody might argue that requiring an extra \par after \end{env}
is broken behaviour of this environment, but that's not the point.

Sorry about following up my own message. I should be more thorough. The
message pops up when I try to view a dvi image of my document (File:View

Title, Author, Abstract, Introduction and regular text. In a couple of
places, I used noun style text and emphasized text. Errors such as I
described pop up all over the place (12 in just under a page of text),
especially where I use noun and emphasized text.

The error comes up in a window titled "LaTeX Error". I think I wrote the
message correctly; however, I couldn't copy and paste from the window. I am
using FreeBSD 4.0 stable and installed LyX 1.1.5 and teTeX 1.0.7 via the
ports system. On an older computer, I had this successfully working with
LyX 1.1.4fix2, but this is a new computer and a fresh install of FreeBSD.
I'm pretty sure my TeX is installed correctly. Am I missing some fonts?
How can I remedy the situation?

Thanks in advance,

Sorry about following up my own message. I should be more thorough. The
message pops up when I try to view a dvi image of my document (File:View

Title, Author, Abstract, Introduction and regular text. In a couple of
places, I used noun style text and emphasized text. Errors such as I
described pop up all over the place (12 in just under a page of text),
especially where I use noun and emphasized text.

That's not possible now. So your choice is either to have the class
fixed, or to have LyX fixed :)

Q: [?] instead of bib ref

2000-07-17 Thread Laurent DUVAL

Hello,

Sometimes I get [?] instead of the correct bib refin my whole document
, even though
the Bibliography at the end of the document is correct.
Each time I get this kind of trouble, I perform random actions such as
close the file, rename the bib file, delete the /tmp file.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but I can never remember
what is the correct type of action
(my actions are genuinely random, great!).

Could somebody give me a hint? (lyx1.0.1, Sun Solaris)

Closing and reopening the file does not work?

LyX 1.1.5 handles things like this a lot better.

* Closing and reopening the file does not work?

Not always, I just tried, not randomly...

We should upgrade, but I am not skilled enough to do this quickly.

Font errors

2000-07-17 Thread Kevin Gross

Hi all,

I'm having a bit of a problem. I'm not entirely sure what this error
message means:

# Font T1/cmr/bx/it/12=ecbi1200 at 12.0pt not loadable: Metric (TFM) file
not f
# \subsection*{textit{Ab~Initio}}
#
# I wasn't able to read the size data for this font, so I will ignore the
font specification.
# [Wizards can fix TFM files using TFtoPL/PLtoTF.]
# You might try inserting a different font spec;
# e.g., type '\font='.

Kevin Gross

Re: Font errors

2000-07-17 Thread Kevin Gross

Sorry about following up my own message. I should be more thorough. The
message pops up when I try to view a dvi image of my document (File:View
dvi). The document is very vanilla. Just an article class document with a
Title, Author, Abstract, Introduction and regular text. In a couple of
places, I used noun style text and emphasized text. Errors such as I
described pop up all over the place (12 in just under a page of text),
especially where I use noun and emphasized text.

Re: folded documents

2000-07-17 Thread James Vahn

Anyone please.. Landscape mode, 2 columns. The paper is folded
in half, a pre-printed graphic is on the front. Open it up (like
a book) and the columns are too close together.

thank you.
