problems with algoithm floats.
I used to have algorithm floats working but not anymore. I recently upgraded to lyx-1.1.5fix1 from lyx 1.0.4 but since lyx 1.0.4 no longer works with algorithm floats either I assume the problem is not related to the upgrade. One possible difficulty is that I may have changed some of the latex files in my ~src/texinputs file and alas I cannot backup to the original state. In particular the file floatflt.sty may have changed though I don't see why that would matter. I have tried many combinations of having floatflt.sty and algorithm.sty in and out of ~/src/texinputs and included and not included in the latex preamble. As I understand things these changes wouldn't make a difference and my experiments seem to indicate that they don't. But what does matter? What have I changed to break algorithm floats. Included is a directory of files showing a simple example. It was run using lyx-1.1.5fix1. The same thing happens if I use 1.0.4 even though lyx-1.0.4 used to work. Any help greatly appreciated. This is a quick and easy solution, BUT it will be much more obvious to anyone to use a paragraph language forcing symbol than this method, it is very impractical to use notes they don't convey the reason they are there. A special symbol (inset) to force the language of the paragraph will be much better. -- Baruch Even http://techst02.technion.ac.il/~sbaruch/ (My Site) http://rpghost.com/jindor/ (My brothers AD&D site) " Learn to laugh ... it's the path to true love! Why do you want to have these quotes? In Hebrew, identical quotes marks are used, and this is exactly what LyX generates when you use the " key. > * When starting a Hebrew paragraph with quotation marks > Lyx or Lyx user gets confused. There should be an option > to insert a 'logical R2L'-symbol to control teh paragraph main direction. More generally, you need the language of the paragraph to be different then the language of the first character in the paragraph. The solution: go to the start of the paragraph, select the desired paragraph language (using the character style popup, or in your case with F12), and insert a note inset.
Re: Lyx: Hebrew & quotes
I'm trying to format a word like LaTeX and TeX can be written. How can I find out how to format letters (like that tiny capital A in LaTeX?) and make it easy to use in LyX? I have Lamports book but didn't see it. A page number would be fine. -J -- Jonathan Pennington | http://coastalgeology.org Site Manager| Protection and stewardship CoastalGeology.Org (CGO)| through public education. lyx2html
I needed to generate a HTML version of my diploma thesis which I have originally written with LyX. As the output of latex2html didn't fulfill my requirements, I have spent some time on sed and shell scripting to improve the results. Maybe some of you would like to have a look at it and adjust it to your personal needs. Or is it possible to put some of it in the LyX source code? E.g. the redefinition of the url tag should be removed before using latex2html. The scripts (and the resulting thesis) can be found at: http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~tron/opensource/node31.html. Cheers Steffen PS: I'm only on the users list.

Actually, I have also wanted to generate some good pdfs and nothing really satsified me. So, I finally used postscript instead, but pdfs would be better ... Cheers Steffen
Lyx: Hebrew & quotes
I am a very new Lyx (version 1.1.5fix1) user. What a wonderful job has been done so far. Some comments: Hebrew: === * In Hebrew mode, how shoud one insert right '' and left `` quotation marks - without turning into L2R mode? * When starting a Hebrew paragraph with quotation marks Lyx or Lyx user gets confused. There should be an option to insert a 'logical R2L'-symbol to control teh paragraph main direction. General: === * Somtimes, just a cursor movement causes reformatting! It should not. But even then - it is not undo-able. regards -- yotam
