You can use the crop package. This is the description from CTAN:

Support for cropmarks.
A package providing corner marks for camera alignment as well as for
trimming paper stacks, and additional page information on every page if
required. Most
macros are easily adaptable to personal preferences.

Look at:

CTAN/macros/latex/contrib/supported/crop/

You can try to type in math mode

\hat (space) y \bar (space) x

Hope it helps

pdflatex works with PDF images files, AFAIK.

IMHO, don't try pdflatex until you have more experience. You
can try:
1. Choose "pslatex" on Format/Document/Font.
2. Export to PostScript
3. execute ps2pdf your-file.ps

You can play with hyperref package for get PDF's features, for
example (on your LaTeX preamble):

\usepackage[ps2pdf,pdftitle={Title of %
%your document},urlcolor=blue,%
linktocpage,letterpaper,colorlinks=true]{hyperref}

Converting Lyx files to PDF

2000-12-27 Thread Dr. Antonio Botelho de Sousa

One more question
I followed the information you gave me to convert Lyx to PDF files.
But now i have some problems.
If i view in PDF(pdflatex) it generates erros with the .EPS images i have in
the book.
If i view in :PDF only the signls of the equations (+ -=) disappear and it
cuts also the las lines of some pages.
But with the Poscript options everything goes pretty well.
Can you help me and excuse me, but i am a beginer with Lyx; but i like it
very very much. Thanks once more

Diacritical and cropmarks

2000-12-27 Thread Dr. Antonio Botelho de Sousa

One more time i need your help. I'm writing a book on medical statistics, and
my print bureau wants me to send the files in PDF format, with crop marks.
How can i insert crop marks in the post-script output of a Lyx file?
Other question:
How can i insert diacritical marks, like y-hat or x with a little bar over,
like the sample mean?
Thank for your help.

Re: About hyphenation

2000-12-27 Thread Emanuele Olivetti

I think it's the usual problem... :-)

The problem is LaTeX, not LyX.

Follow these steps:
Become root and run 'texconfig'
Go in the hyphenation->latex menu
Texconfig let you edit a configuration file : uncomment the line about spanish
language (I don't remember now, it's something like removing '#', but it's
quite clear anyway).
Exit and save from the editor and from texconfig. After a long (automatic)
rebuilding you'll have full support of your language.
Start LyX (maybe it's better to reconfigure?).

That's all.

Hope this helps.

Emanuele

P.S.: WARNING: if you don't know how to use VI you'll find some problem,
because usually it's the standard editor for texconfig. Read something
about VI first. Again, don't try to modify the configuration file outside
texconfig evironnement: latex won't know the changes... if you don't have
a long rebuilding at the end of texconfig, you have canged nothing.

P.S.II : If my answer is correct (I hope), maybe it's better to put it in
the FAQ... I found this question MANY MANY times. ;-)

Could you send us a .log file produced by LaTeX when running on a
spanish document? This file should tell whether your latex format has
spanish hyphenation patterns built in. For example, on my system, I
get

This is TeX, Version 3.14159 (Web2c 7.0)
MLTeX v2.2 enabled
(essai.tex
LaTeX2e <1997/06/01>
Babel and hyphenation patterns for american, english, french, dutch, ge
rman, loaded.
