Great! Just what I needed.
Thanks a lot.

One thing I realize is that in Table of Contents the Roman chapter numbering
getting closer and finally overlapping with the chapter titles.

How can I have format like CHAPTER I INTRODUCION, CHAPTER II REVIEW,...,
CHAPTER VIII CONCLUSIONS in the TOC?

Thank you very much.

g-brief and LaTeX Errors

2002-09-02 Thread Axel Dessecker

Hello,

I am currently writing a long letter of several pages using the g-brief
document class. Although long letters should be possible, a LaTeX error
occurs at the end of the document if the letter exceeds one page. It says:
"Something's wrong - perhaps a missing \item." There is just the letter text
there, no list environment. Any ideas?

Thank you.
Axel

Chapter title on each page

2002-09-02 Thread Mauro Bardini

I'm tryng to write my thesis with lyx.
The first problem is the title of the chapter reported on the top of each
page. If thi title is too long the row just crash at the very end of the page
in an horrible way. How can I have the title of the chapter put in two lanes?

Thanks
Mauro

paper custom size zero margin dissapears

2002-09-02 Thread Peer Frank

using LyX 1.2.1 (Aug 20)

Hi folks,

setting zero margins (e.g. top) for the document paper layout seem to
vanish. It works once, but when the dialog is closed and reopened the
entries have vanished and the 0 value is not used anymore and a
default instead.

A bug ?

A workaround is to set a small non zero margin.

Bye
Peer

You should not insert the table in the same paragraph of the caption.
Put it in a paragraph below or above the caption.

The language change will affect the output (DVI/Postscript), but it
currently does not affect the display on the LyX screen.

It is a bug which did not occur in 1.2 as 1.2 behaviour is broken slightly
differently. There have been at least two patches to fix this on the list,
so it should be fixed somehow in 1.2.2

They are not really forbidden, but they tend to screw up "external
helpers". LyX got that status lately as you noticed...

letters, number, dashes, commas, and colons should be fine. _, ^, ~, ",
$, #, spaces and other non-printable stuff should be avoided.

I-need-readable-and-clear-equation-labels.

Not optimal, but safe.

This might produce clashing labels

problems with equation labels in 1.2.1 - file corruption

2002-09-02 Thread Olivier Ripoll

Hello all,

I've switch from 1.2.0 to 1.2.1 recently, and well, back to 1.2.0 for
the following reason:

I'm writing a quite big document, my PhD thesis, and have quite a lot of
equations in it. I do not know what is authorised by LaTeX (I don't know
LaTeX -- that why I use LyX). Untill yesterday, I used spaces,
underscores and dashes in my figure(floats), sections or equation
labels. Everything was working fine.
But yersterday, all the spaces present in my equation labels vanished,
thus breaking all the referencing of the thesis.
Besides, the equation labels that had underscore were seriously damaged
-- together with their corresponding equation. Example, with the [] to
denote the equation label
x=bogus+1, [value of R_i and alpha_i]
was transformed in
x=bogus+1iandalpha_i, [value of R_{]
or something close.

The figures labels have not been touched. They still work, with spaces
and underscores.

So I switched back to 1.2.0 and renamed and/or corrected all of my
equations, with underscores instead of spaces and redone all my thesis
referebnce towards this new labels (that quite a tedious work).

Hence come my bunch of questions:
-Is this normal or is it a bug?
-Are spaces, dashes, underscores forbidden in equation labels?
and if so:
-what can I use to separate my words?
Ineedreadableandclearequationlabels :)
-shouldn't it be stated in the label dialog window?
-shouldn't lyx be able to handle such characters, and only
replace/suppress them when exporting, if it is a LaTeX issue?

Thanks in advance,

Olivier.
