Can I type Arabic in lyx without arabtex
I tried to use lyx to type my Arabic docs. I managed to do it with arabtex. This is my file after exporting to LaTeX: - %% LyX 1.3 created this file. For more info, see http://www.lyx.org/. %% Do not edit unless you really know what you are doing. \documentclass[a4paper,english]{article} \usepackage{times} \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} \usepackage[latin1]{inputenc} \makeatletter \usepackage{arabtex,iso88596}\setcode{iso8859-6} \makeatother \begin{document} \begin{arabtex} djcf \end{arabtex} \end{document} But I don't see the translation method as convenient. I would like to use babel, omega, labmda or whatever that supports writing in Arabic. Would you please help me to do it. I will appreciate it a lot. My preference file contains: --- # MISC SECTION ## # \kbmap true \kbmap_primary "null" \kbmap_secondary "arabic" # # SCREEN & FONTS SECTION # \popup_font_encoding "iso8859-1" \screen_font_roman "Tahoma" \screen_font_roman_foundry "Xft" \screen_font_sans "Arial Unicode Ms" \screen_font_typewriter "Courier" \screen_font_typewriter_foundry "Xft" \screen_font_encoding "iso8859-6" # # LANGUAGE SUPPORT SECTION ## # \language_package "\usepackage{arabtex,iso88596}\setcode{iso8859-6}" \language_use_babel "false" \language_command_begin "\begin{arabtex}" \language_command_end "\end{arabtex}" \language_auto_begin false \language_auto_end false - -- Munzir Taha, Microsoft Office User Specialist, (MOUS), Certified Internet Webmaster, (CIW), New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Hello, Johannes Breu schrieb: Now the problem: I wish to modify some *.cls files (hollywood.cls for instance). Where do I have to put these files in the .lyx-directory that lyx recognises them. I only want to modify them for one user not for the whole system. Thanks, Johannes Breu All changes in /home/user/.lyx take effect for single users. If you change them globally you'll have to edit config-files in /usr/share/lyx Thomas
Configuration of lyx 1.3
I installed lyx_qt1.3 on woody 3.0r1. It works fine. I must admit that I do not see the configurations I have done in .lyx when I open preferences in lyx (I did reconfigure lyx and started it again). But I don't take it serious. I can easily edit the files using a conventional editor I hope. Now the problem: I wish to modify some *.cls files (hollywood.cls for instance). how to activate math preview? (on windows-lyx)
Hello, I just installed the windows version of LyX 1.3, more precisely the version of Ruurd Reitsma, (that needs no Cygwin and no X-Server). I have preview package version 0.7.8 (which is the lastest) on my MiKTeX system. On LyX I did Edit->Reconfigure. Then I restarted LyX, but I see no effect on math formulas. Is there a special trick to do? best regards Marcus http://www.Stormlight.de
