bug: comment resets enumerate numbering?

2004-02-14 Thread Alexis Huxley
Hi, I have a list:

1. eggs
2. bacon
3. mushrooms

And I want to stick a comment in there - just for me the author -
like this:

1. eggs
*try something else next time instead of the next few ingredients*
2. bacon
3. mushrooms

But this is not what I get. In lyx I see:

1. eggs
*try something else next time instead of the next few ingredients*
1. bacon
2. mushrooms

but at least *I* can see the comment, so I know why the numbering
has gone wrong afterwards, but in the DVI it looks like this:

1. eggs
1. bacon
2. mushrooms

which is quite confusing for the (non-authoring) reader.

I presume this is a bug? And is there an ERT workaround?

Thanks!

As far as I know, there is no standard macro for this.
(I guess in some fonts it is character 228).

However, I usually use:
\newcommand\degree{\ensuremath{^{\circ}}}
in preamble, and then \degree{} in ERT in text.

I usually use \textdegree for the little circle or \textcelsius if I want
degreeC. \textdegree works but \textcelsius i need to put
\usepackage{textcomp} in the preamble. What is the proper way to include
symbols like these? Do you put them in ERT? I have tried mathmode and it
works but produces a Latex warning. I just tried ERT today, and that seems
to work.

What about textmode? Is that just the environment when you hit Ctrl-M twice?
What is it used for?

A bold Greek with a hat

2004-02-14 Thread Nirmal Govind
Hi.. I'm trying to get a hat (^) on a bold greek symbol such as
\beta .. I have the equivalent of the following LaTeX code:
\hat{\boldsymbol{\beta}} .. however, the ^ is misplaced since it's
not directly above the beta as it usually is if it were just
\hat{\beta} .. so I tried \boldsymbol{\hat{\beta}} and now the hat's
placement is fine but the hat is also in bold.. what is the correct
way to get a non-bold hat on a bold symbol?

Thanks,
nirmal
