Re: Problem with Math editor in 1.4.1
Hello, Thx Paul, I looked at your website but didn't get anything working :s Anyway I don't understand why it should be a font problem, because in facts it has to font .. It just doesn't use it at the correct moment :S. I've also noticed that when I leave math mode, I get this error : dvipng warning: at (0,-1) ignored header \special{!userdict begin/bop-hook{/isls false def/vsize 792 def/hsize 612 def}def end}. Does anybody know where is the problem? Thx Esox
Document Class for AMS + Noweb?
Hi folks, I've asked this before, but so far there's been no reply: does anyone have any idea how to create a document class that combines the AMS document classes and Noweb support? I'd really like to be able to combine proofs and my code, so this seems like a natural combination. Comments? Many thanks and best regards, Paul Snively

One suggestion would be to save the Emacs information into a *.tex file and in LyX insert it as a child document (Insert>File>Child document) and specify include type as "input". Then all you have to do is update the *.tex file from Emacs. No more copy-and-paste... even if the paste tastes good ;-) -- Anders Dahnielson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

The LyX document will still compile & view, but the ERT text is just about impossible to read. If we save the same Emacs information into a text file, and then do Insert->file->text as lines, then it preserves the carriage returns. But it is inconvenient. So that makes me think LyX needs a "paste special" or something to allow pasters like us to get our work done more nicely. Edit->Paste External Selection->Selection as Lines doesn't do the job? It's bound to C-A-V in cua.bind, but if that's inconvenient or it's not bound in the binding file you use, you could always add a binding for it. /Paul

First page addition
Hi again! I'm using the report koma script class to write a paper and I'd like to add the names of the two directors of my paper to the first page (in addition to "title of the paper", my name, date). How should I do that? Sorry for populating the list with noob questions but these are things I don't know where to look for anywhere else without being redirected to really precise technical details about LaTeX... One of my history teachers told me one day: "The best way to hide an information is to put it in the middle of a lot of other information". Even though I really fell information should be accessible to everyone Jé
Re: Are fonts of LyX code also added into the pdf file?
On 5/26/06, Paul A. Rubin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > When using > > \usepackage{lmodern} > > pdflatex also adds the typewriter (LyX code) fonts into the pdf file? It looks that way. I just generated a small test document, opened it in Adobe Reader, and checked the fonts (File->Document Properties...->Fonts). It showed both LMRoman10-Regular and LMTypewriter10-Regular as embedded subsets. Thanks, Paul. I have just performed the same experiment and reached the same conclusion. Paul

Defining macros on the fly?
Dear LyX users! Is there a way for defining a some kind of macro or shortcut bind while running LyX without a need to modify my ~/.lyx/bind/? I mean, is there a command to write in the command buffer to define a temporary shortcut for a command frequently used within a document? I didn't find such, but I'd be glad if this is possible. Thank you. -- With best regards, Pavel Gurevich
Re: A debate topic: What can LyX still learn from scientific workplace?
On Fri, 26 May 2006, Steve Litt wrote: Couldn't an html document do a better job, possibly data driven. wiki? I'm just suggesting that you can use the wiki to create these documents. One lookup is "what you want to do", another is document class, maybe another is command/environment. It could also include all the packages you can add into your document. For instance, it would be wonderful to know that if you want your table of contents to be clickable links in a PDF, you need the hyperref package. Different people could document different packages. If someone can't find a package to do what they need, THEN they use the LaTeX tweaking program to change or create the command/environment. In such a situation, popup "tool tips" could easily enough show the laTeX or LyX code required for the given feature (to list just one example). That would also be extremely helpful in learning the most commonly used commands. I know how to do that in HTML, using CSS, I think. You can also get popups on the wiki, here's a simple attempt http://wiki.lyx.org/Playground/TestPopup Just hold the mouse over "ECU" for instance. Generally speaking, anything you can do with HTML is doable on the wiki (although it might take some customization). cheers /Christian -- Christian Ridderström, +46-8-768 39 44 http://www.md.kth.se/~chr
