maemo

2006-08-22 Thread camus . philippe
Hello,
does anyone tried to compile lyx for the Nokia 770 (using Maemo) ?
If not, I would like to get some infos about lyx and Gtk, since
this nice gadget uses Hildon, and it should be easier to adapt some
gtk code to it than trying to get Qt (or Xform) working on it!
By the way, I didn't find something about Lyx on a Zaurus or another Qtopia
gadget ...
P.S. I don't think about running TeX on such a tiny rhing ! Just the editor part
of Lyx would make me happy !
thanks

Re: There's no "HTML" in view menu

I think i changed the viewer (only the parameter) and it works well on
my other SuSE (ver. 10.0). That's why i'm wondering why there's no
"HTML".

Did you set a viewer for HTML? I haven't used 1.3.6 in a l-o-n-g time
(hint), but installing/reconfiguring 1.3.7 does not set a viewer for HTML.

Hi again,

I did try the Repository menu. I just pointed it to a directory where I
had placed the single file, "subfigure.cab". Obviously it requires some

be. It seems silly to download the whole repository just for this one
file -- a file that I already have.

I tested this and to my surprise it didn't work as expected.
So you were right. I used Google and found that this was an
error message reported often enough to provoke the ire of a
list maintainer who said read the FAQ. But it is not in any
FAQ. The answer was that *the* Readme.txt is needed.

---

does not seem to be a local package repository

Does the file README.TXT exist in the local package repository? Setup
Wizard reads the first line of README.TXT. It should be sufficient to say

echo This folder contains the "Small MiKTeX" package set.> README.TXT

Hope this helps,
Christian Schenk

I don't think Miktex2.5 has a localtexmf anymore. If this method
of adding README.TXT doesn't work, I would unpack subfigure.cab
(winrar, winzip) into a temp folder and then copy the files manually
into C:\program files\miktex 2.5 , to the appropriate directories.
Then update the fndb (there is a inittex syntax if you don't have
the wizard, I don't know what the LyX installer provides) and LyX.

Type "doskey" from the command prompt. Then your previous typing
will be repeated using the up arrow (like Linux). So you will
have most of the typing done from you after you copy the first
file to the right place in C:\program files\miktex 2.5\...\...\
Use the left arrow to go back to where you want to change a
filename or directory path and then use backspace and retype it.
It's possible that Winrar would extract the files to the right
place but I'm not sure of that.

Notice that there are two subfigure directories shown in the
image below. I'll provide their contents, also shown in the png

Directory of C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.5\doc\latex\subfigure

08/22/2006 11:02 AM .
08/22/2006 11:02 AM ..
07/02/2002 05:05 PM 2,207 README
04/23/2005 08:56 PM 172,944 subfigure.dvi

-
[SH: These files must go to this location.]

Directory of C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.5\tex\latex\subfigure

08/22/2006 11:02 AM .
08/22/2006 11:02 AM ..
04/23/2005 08:56 PM 2,114 subfigure.cfg
04/23/2005 08:56 PM14,815 subfigure.sty

-

This method involves copy six files using doskey and
making two "subfigure" directories and it more certain
than including the README.TXT (in one post I saw a .log
file mentioned also) which didn't work for me.

Stephen

You may try to copy this in your preamble
(it is simply the report class bibliography environment,
edited to send the chapter* name in the toc and tune the running headers
properly).

It assumes that you want it to look like a chapter, and that it's OK
to have the running headers as \bibname in small capitals.
If not, remove the \textsc commands in the [EMAIL PROTECTED] command.

Ok, you can try the following. (A good stiff drink beforehand to settle
the nerves might be warranted, and personally I would keep the bottle
handy.)

1. Put subfigure.cab in a temporary directory and open a command prompt
there.

2. Execute

expand subfigure.cab . -F:*

(note that the -F switch is case-sensitive). If Windows complains that
it can't find the expand command, you'll need to search for expand.exe
under C:\Windows, but I'm betting it's on your command path.

3. Move subfigure.sty and subfigure.cfg to an appropriate subdirectory
under either your texmf or localtexmf root. (My suggestion would be
\tex\latex\subfigure\, which you will need to create.)

4. Move subfigure.tpm to wherever TPM files go to hang out
(\tpm\packages\ or

5. Move subfigure.dvi (the manual) to an appropriate directory, say
\doc\latex\subfigure\.

6. Run the MiKTeX Options application, and click the Refresh button
(Refresh FNDB in the most recent version) on the General tab.

7. See if subfigure works. If not, find where you stashed that bottle.

8. Assuming it works, feel free to discard subfigure-src.cab (unless
you plan to modify the source code), README (which may be accurate
w.r.t. the source files but does not entirely match the non-source
content of the CAB file), and subfigure.cab itself.

Added bibliography to TOC when NOT using a bibtex file

2006-08-22 Thread raman vaj
Dear Lyx Users,

I have included the bibliography for my document using the bibliography fe
ature from the format menu. I would like to know how to include this biblio
graphy in my table of contents. I have seen an option of addign the bibliog
raphy to the TOC when it is a bibtex file, but not when the bibliography is
  done like this.

It is a little bit urgent ( have a deadline in 2 days!!!) so a fast reply
would be really appreciated.

thanks in advance,
Raman
