This should be possible. Looking at the numbering in amsart, in the
preamble section, it currently reads:

\numberwithin{section}{chapter}
\theoremstyle{plain}
\newtheorem{thm}{Theorem}[section]
\numberwithin{equation}{section} %% Comment out for
sequentially-numbered
\numberwithin{figure}{section} %% Comment out for
sequentially-numbered

EndPreamble

I would fiddle with this, but I am not sure how. I got this from the
recommended source to the AMS sample documents, but it was many years
ago. Look through those documents and there will be examples, I hope,
of what you want.

I copied the beamer.layout you provided and replaced the one in
usr/share/lyx/layouts
texhash + reconfigure
Still the same message when I open the example provided

I get "Using the default document class, because the class beamer could not be

Any idea ?

The beamer layout file of LyX 1.5 doesn't work with previous versions, because
it supports some features that 1.4 doesn't have.
LyX 1.4.4 also ships a beamer.layout file, but that might not work with 1.3.6.

However, the beamer package itself contains a LyX layout file that works with
1.3. I've attached it.

beamer installation in Lyx

2007-06-10 Thread Alex Salvador
I have troubles installing the beamer package.
Using Suse 10.1 - with Lyx 1.3.6 - latex-beamer-3.07.tar.gz
Copied the beamer files to usr/local/share/texmf/tex/latex/beamer
Copied pgf and xcolor directories to usr/local/share/texmf/tex/latex/
texhash
reconfigure Lyx
No 'beamer' in the 'Document class' drop down menu Document/parameters
Upgraded to Lyx 1.4.2
Didn't work
Through archives found out I neede a beamer.layout file
Therefore downloaded lyx 1.5 and extracted from it only the beamer.layout file
which I copied to usr/share/lyx/layouts
texhash
reconfigure Lyx
A 'beamer' document class exists in the document/parameters menu :-))
But when I open the example provided "conference-ornate-20min.en.lyx" I get
"Using the default document class, because the class beamer could not be loaded"
:-((

Am I missing a file ?
What can I do ?

 I have opensuse 10.2, kde 3.5, lyx 1.5.0 rc1 compiled
for me.
Unlike beta 3 (in same machine) session manager work
a few times when I began to use it. Now no work at
all. I re start my computer and I need to make a click
on the icon. Lyx appears maximized (ok) and file in
last position (ok).
If I have two files open (A and B) and I closed with
file A at view. When I re start and open Lyx, file B
is at view (bad).

Ok what I had to do was to delete the dir "C:\Dokumente und
Einstellungen\\Anwendungsdaten\lyx15beta1", and now lyx
starts up again. Re-installing probably didn't have anything to do with it.

(Non-localized version would be "Docs and Settings\loginname\application
data\lyx15beta1" I guess.)

I hope some developer will adjust the name "lyx15beta1" before releasing ;-)

I am not exactly sure when it was introduces, probably in beta 3 or

was responsible for your reported behavior.
